There the cabin stood.  Worn down, weathered and lonely.  Hillevi and the four Ragnarssons quietly admired the wooden building.  The animal skulls still clung to the rotting wood.  Hillevi's admiration quickly turned into hatred.  The cabin was a place where she and Gerd once lived.  A place their father kept them away from the outside world.  A prison.  A poor place to raise two little girls with hardly anything.  A place of few happy memories.

"Are we going to go in or not?"

Looking behind herself,  Hillevi could see Ivar impatiently glaring at her from over Hvitserk's shoulder.  She matched his intense stare before looking away.

"If you don't lower your voice Ivar," Hillevi spoke lowly. "Gerd will hear us and run deeper into the woods."

Ivar shifted around on Hvitserk's back with a grumble.  The pain in his legs and arms grew more and more with each minute that passed by.  All he wanted to do was storm into the cabin, grab Gerd, and go back down to Kattegat.  Not to mention, he was very irritated.

"What do you propose we do then Hillevi?" Ubbe spoke up as he stepped close to Hillevi.

Ivar and his brothers watched as the young woman inhaled deeply before looking back at each of them.

"We enter the cabin as quietly as possible and take her." Hillevi folded her arms across her chest.  "If she resists, one of us will knock her out.  Gerd will most likely be in a very emotional state considering those men were her first kill and as we all know...my younger sister is delicate."

The four Ragnarssons glanced at one another as a strong breeze danced around them.  Hillevi looked to the sky to see grey clouds rolling in from the north.  Ubbe joined her in searching the sky.  The tops of trees slowly swayed in time with the wind.  A storm was most likely on it's way.  The temperature around them grew cooler and the sun was now fully blocked from view.

"We better hurry up and do this then." Ubbe murmured with a concern.  He  took his eyes away from the skies.  "We don't want to be caught up here in this pending storm."

With a nod, Hillevi waited for Hvitserk to place Ivar down next to a fallen tree and a small boulder.  Ivar frowned in confusion as Ubbe crouched down to be eye level with him.

"You keep a lookout for us while we enter the cabin." Ubbe smiled slightly and gave him a firm pat on the back.  "We won't be long."

"Just be quick about it!" Ivar snapped at him.  "You're wasting time!"

Ubbe sighed before rising to his full height.  He nodded to the others and they proceeded to walk to the door of the cabin.  Ivar made himself comfortable behind the small boulder.  He rested his arms on the cool surface of the rock.  His bright blue eyes observed his older siblings and Hillevi as they opened the cabin door slowly.  The wooden door creaked loudly in protest then all of them rushed forward.  The door slammed shut just as a loud clap of thunder echoed above Ivar.  He eyed the sky as flashes of lighting light up the looming clouds.  Ivar smirked as he thought of the god of thunder, Thor.  He marveled at the light that flashed along the sky and the rumbles of thunder that followed.  Ivar reached for the pendant that hung around his neck.  A pendant made out of hard dark wood and shaped into Thor's hammer.

He recalled his mother giving it to him long ago as a gift.  He also remembered Gerd admiring it when they were children.  He remember how she reached for it, but he smacked her little hands away.  He remembered watching her expression to see if big fat tears would roll down her cheeks.  None fell though.  Instead, she sat quietly with her head hung low as if in apology for her actions.  Ivar then recalled taking one of her hands roughly and allowing her to touch the pendant.  She was shocked, but a brief smile lit up her face before he hid the pendant inside his shirt.
