A smile that made my blood freeze and my instincts to take over. I crawled as far away from the man as I could. A chilling laugh filled the little room and I crawled back as the man came into complete view. Red lines that looked strangely like talley marks covered the man's body. "Hello little pig." Commissioner Gordon pulled me behind him as the electric fence's buzz snapped to a quiet. The man stepped in quietly, as if a ghost, flicking his wrist which held a glittering knife. "Mr. Zsasz, back away." The GCPD officer spoke, his voice unwavering. Another laugh made a series of shivers run up my spine. "The Joker says I can-play with her until he gets back." The man who was called Zsasz suddenly pounced, flying much further than anyone other than Batman. I sighed at the thought of his protective stance and warm eyes. The thought of never seeing him again and dying in the Asylum scared me to the core. He landed on top of the Commissioner, slamming him to the floor. "Commissioner!" My voice was still hoarse and it hurt to move. Still, I pulled the crazed man from the officer, but not before he knocked him unconscious. He went limp and Zsasz laughed, turning to me.
He roughly pulled me to my feet and my left leg gave out. Momentarily, I was being choked by his tight grasp around my neck, but he pulled me up so I was standing. "Come on, time to go!" Zsasz's time was dreamy, as if looking forward to what was going to happen. Aggressively dragging me across the carpeted floor of the mansion and I felt the silver blade bump into my side every other step. "Let go of me, you monster!" I shouted, trying to get loose of him. Ignoring me, he dragged me down a flight if stairs and pulled open a heavy door, the pounding of rain filling the air. Being pulled out into the downpour, I immediately was soaked threw my clothes, my hair drenched. An odd bell sequence sounded over the rain and Harley Quinn's voice was barely heard. "Victor, it seems my bozos couldn't hold B-Man as long as we wanted. You know what to do." My heart beat sped up at her words and I looked up at him. His eyes were filled with madness as a psychotic grin crossed his lips; We crossed a metal bridge to a watchtower. He suddenly knocked the blade handle against my head, causing my grip on his arms to slip and black to dance around the edges of my vision. Another massive blow to my head and I fell to the ground, the pain overwhelming me to darkness.
When I woke, I kept my eyes closed, the pain in my head was too much and my body was limp. "WHAT DID YOU TO HER?" My heart leaped at the growling voice and I managed to pry my eyes open. Batman's back was to me and he was holding Zsasz by the neck in the air. A grin was plastered to his face and I studied his face. There was blood dried and his nose was swollen. "WHAT DID YOU DO? WHAT DID YOU TO MY GIRL?" Batman let out a angry yell and then I realized; He didn't know I was alive, he thought I was dead. "Batman." I croaked, but he didn't hear me, probably too caught up in his own world. A different pair of hands went under me and I panicked. Lashing out, tears slid down my cheeks at the pain of moving my limbs. "Baby girl." I let out a sob, looking up to Robin's face. He grasped me close to him and I saw a single tear fall from his eyes. "Batman!" He threw him to the ground, knocked out and I saw Commissioner Gordon put cuffs around Zsasz's bloody body. "Batman!" Robin shouted again, finally gaining him to turn around in our direction. His face was contorted with rage and I saw dry tears on his face. His suit was torn in many places and skin showed threw. Batman's eyes scanned my body with gritted teeth and then his eyes met mine. Brown eyes that I learned to love filled with tears and his body relaxed. "My girl." I reached out to him and Robin put me to my feet. I started to collapse and Robin caught me as I bit my lip, but kept my gaze locked with my protector. He reached me in a few strides and wrapped me in his embrace. "I love you, I love you. You're mine, you're safe. I love you so much." Hearing those words come out of his mouth, I melted. "I love you too."
I was heavily leaning against the armor of the Dark Knight with his arms around me. The rest of the GCPD had shown and was taking Arkham Asylum back under control. My eyes were heavy with exhaustion, my body was sore, and my head throbbed along with my heart beat. Every now and then, his lips found my head & he would mutter an apology. Robin with the Commissioner accompanying him, walked towards us. "Jesus Gina." I smiled weakly and was fighting to keep my eyes open. "Batman, she needs medical attention. She's lost a lot of blood and has been threw hell. Please, she has been beaten worse than you think tonight." I felt Batman grasp me and I ignored the pain shooting threw my body. Loosing my balance, I swayed and Batman caught me. "Come on sweetheart." With little effort, he pulled me to his chest, as if I were a baby. "Stay with me. Please." "Miss Smith, we have to go with an ambulance so you can get medication sooner." I looked to Batman with panic in my features. "I'll be right behind you." Nodding, I let him place me in Gordon's arms. With a small smile, he disappeared with Robin into the dark.
