Kylee dismounts Gypsy and is engulfed in a group hug by Anna and Delia.
"That was so cool! I mean, at first we thought you were gonna die but that was amazing!" Delia squealed.
"Yeah, it was really cool. You should try it!" Kylee shoved her friends toward Gypsy who was munching happily on some dead animal Hagrid had given her. Kylee's eyes searched for Draco but she quickly started to panic when she noticed Draco making his way toward Buckbeak, running his mouth off.
"You're not dangerous at all, are you, you great ugly brute."
"Malfoy..." Hagrid started to warn but was cut off as Buckbeak reared on his hind legs and came down, slashing Draco's arm with his talons.
"Draco!" Kylee rushed to his side as he rolled around on the floor, groaning.
"Oh, it's killed me! It's killed me!"
"Hagrid! He has to be taken to the hospital!" Hermione spoke, running forward. Hagrid scooped Draco in his arms and walked away, Kylee following close behind.
"I feel like a bloody chicken!" Draco whimpered.
While everyone else went on to the rest of their classes, Kylee sat beside Draco in the Hospital Wing, keeping him company. Not really talking, just enjoying each other's presence. When Draco was released from the Hospital Wing, dinner had already started and the two didn't feel like explaining why they were late. So, Kylee and Draco headed to the kitchen.
"You didn't have to do that, you know?" He asked once they were seated comfortably with two bowls of hot chicken noodle soup and a couple of pumpkin juices.
"Do what?"
"Stay with me all day. Must've been pretty boring. And you missed Charms, your favourite class."
"How'd you know it was my favourite class?" Kylee raised her eyebrows.
He shrugged "I see the way your eyes light up when Professor Flitwick is showing us a new spell and your smile gets bigger every time you walk into that classroom."
"You've been watching me?" If her eyebrows could have gone any higher, they would've been in her hairline by now.
"Wha- no, no I- no I- well, it's obvious. Everyone can see it." He sputtered, cheeks flushing a soft pink.
"Yeah, okay" Kylee laughed, taking the time to examine his profile while his eyes were averted.
"Take a picture, it'll last longer." He smirked, eyeing Kylee from the corner of his eye.
She rolled her eyes "that was such a cliche thing to say"
"It worked, though, did it not?"
"To do what?"
He lifted his hand and brushed Kylee's cheek lightly. "You're blushing."
They stared at each other for what might have been hours but was probably only seconds. And if you were looking from the outside, it probably would've looked a bit creepy. But Kylee was caught up in the moment and intended to enjoy every lasting second. The sound of pots crashing to the floor snapped them out of it, Draco's hand dropping from Kylee's cheek. Staring at them wide-eyed was a house-elf, buried in a pile of pots and pans. Draco and Kylee rushed to stand up, going over and helping the elf stack all the pots and pans again.
"Sorry, sorry" mumbled the house-elf, who skidded out of the room with the pile in its arms.
"That was probably the weirdest thing I've seen today. And I witnessed Crabbe and Goyle feeding each other cake earlier today." Draco chuckled to himself. Kylee shook her head, smiling.
