Her face is completely blank as I finish, "Do you want what I want?"

Nate told me to be more subtle in my approach. He says you have to know when to play it safe and when to be aggressive which is probably what makes him such an excellent lawyer, but I don't like playing games or guessing when a woman is into me. If that means I scare off the ones with lukewarm feelings, then so be it. I'm over that juvenile shit. I keep eye contact while she stares up at me, her bright green ones held open wide.

"Umm," she blinks, clearing her throat. Damn it, maybe I did come on too strong. If I lose this woman to my overbearing tendencies, Nate is definitely going to rub my face in it. "I don't really know how to-"

"Essi!"

"Yeah?" she spins around to an annoyed looking elderly man. I nod my head in his direction.

"Why are those coffee orders getting cold?" he questions with crossed arms.

"Sorry, I was-"

"It's my fault," I interject. "I spilled one of them and then held her up." Asked her out, same difference.

"Is he bothering you?" he asks while pretending to size me up. I stifle a laugh.

Essi lifts the tray again, walking around the corner. "No, not at all," she smiles awkwardly.

"You sure?" Maybe you shouldn't ask her this in front of the presumed bothersome man.

"Yeah, it's fine." She glances at me and walks past, "I know him."

He cocks a brow, "Well then, no social calls on the clock."

She turns her back to the door, tray in hand and leans back, opening it, "Won't happen again," then disappears into the lounge.

I face him again, shaking my head, "Really?"

"What? She's a pretty girl, I want her to feel comfortable here." He lowers his voice, "You have no idea how many guys I have to fend off every-"

"Alright, Walt, I get it," I say to stop him. I have an idea, I just don't want to hear about it in detail. "I meant what's up with the touch guy act?"

"I have to keep these youngins in shape. Teach them how to respect their-"

"Yeah, yeah. We've all heard the speech, old man."

"Oh, Mr. Hot-Shot-I-Work-In-An-Office-With-A-View still has problems interrupting, I see. Did I teach you nothing?" I shrug my shoulders, chuckling. Walter continues, "So, how do you know Essi?"

"Met her here. We were meant to go out, but it fell through, sort of."

"Ah, sorry to interrupt then."

"I don't think you did," I reveal. "She didn't seem all that interested."

"See that's the problem with your generation. It's all instant gratification and quickies." I cringe at the word coming from his mouth. "You need to take your time more. Learn how to properly court a woman." I nod. "And until then, stop distracting my employees with your pretty face. I thought I halted that back when you wore an apron."
