Losing it all

We watched as the soldiers walked into the city. Everyone cheering them on until it started dying down. Then everything got quiet. The soldiers.. they looked horrible. People were missing, some were missing limbs, others injured extremely bad. I look at Temple and have never seen her so disappointed. She slowly reached down and grabbed my hand and looked at me, and then held her head down. I saw a teardrop fall to the ground and she made a soft whimper. I didn't know what to say, I was so confused. I thought they were the ones who protected us. The soldiers everyone expected not to let them down. Everyone started getting loud and upset. I heard a man complaining about how our money was only used on keeping the soldiers fed and getting them fat. Then I heard a man yelling. I look across to see a boy arguing with a man about the soldiers. I quickly glance back down at Temple and her whimper got louder. I took her out of the crowd and into a quiet alleyway.

We stopped and she sat down sobbing. "Why? Why do they do this? Why do the titans always win?! WHY?!", her soft voice turned wobbly. I sat beside her, inspecting her. Temple, she's different, I mean that well, but she does gain attention. Her mouse brown hair she sometimes wears big and curly, so that counts for at least a quarter of the attention. I look at her clothes, they aren't emotionally wracking; just gray or darker colors. She's loud. Very loud. But that's after you meet her. I guess she's shy at first, but not in crowds. She couldn't care less in a crowd and that's where the three other quarters come in. That's not her outside to the fullest. She's pretty skinny and tall compared to the further children here. She has light brown sugar skin, and is weird, but okay. Not confident like some eagle but enough to sass the people. She gets into mess and gets out.. most of the time.

I couldn't sit here and watch her cry. It hurt me see to her so upset. "Temple", I said ,"I promise I'll make it up to you. I know I said this many times before, but I'm going to join the Scou-" "DOMO! No! I'm not letting you. Did you not see what happened to those soldiers? Half of them didn't even come back! Do you really think you could survive what they've been through? Look at them, Domo. Look what they had to go through. That's the reason why I don't have my dad, Domo. He's gone because of those stupid titans. Please, don't join. You're all I got.", she wiped away a tear. I started tearing up, because I knew she was right.

"What if one day the walls breaks.. what are we going to do? We're not going to be prepared for it." She wipes away a tear. "Temple, nothing is going to happen. The wall hasn't been broke for years. We're fine.", I say as she sobs quietly. I knew the wall wouldn't break. It's been standing for years."Come on, Temple. Let's go home." I grabbed her hand and we started walking down the alleyway.
