Recap: In the calmest voice I think I have ever heard her, she spoke. "When were you going to tell me you were...pregnant?"
"What?! MOM! I'm not! Or, at least, I didn't know I was...What's going on?"
Mom took a deep breath, doing her best to keep her voice controlled. "The doctor. He said, you were pregnant. Who is he? Who's the father?"
"Mom, I swear I didn't know. I swear. And as for the dad...I don't know either. I'm sorry."
"Is...is there some..secret boyfriend you aren't telling me about? Because if there is..."
"No, mom. I swear. But...I did have a one-night stand. With a boy. But...I didn't catch his name."
She nodded and didn't say anymore, her lips pressed tightly together. She motioned to the abortion clinic. "It's your decision. Do you want to keep the baby, knowing it will grow up without a father, or end it's life, right now? Your choice."
My mouth gaped open. "I want to keep it! Of course!" As soon as I said the words, I wasn't so sure. Did I want the responsibility? I could never be a teen. "I-uh."
"Yes or no. It's not that hard."
Suddenly, I was angry. She was punishing me! She wants me to suffer for my actions! She WANTS me to abort the baby, so I could be upset about it later. I wasn't going to let her tell me she was right again. I was going to raise this baby. "I'm keeping it."
"O-ok." She stuttered, as if shocked by my answer. She put the car into drive and backed out. When we got home, I locked myself in my room and called Cate.
"Hey, Cate. Just got back from the doctor's. Bad news."
"What happened? Are you okay?"
I was quiet. "It's not the flu, is it, Mary?"
Suddenly, I found myself sobbing, telling Cate everything. When I was done, she was quiet. "What am I gonna do, Cate? I'm pregnant! Should I go back on my decision and have it aborted?"
"NO!" She blurted, barely letting me finish my sentence.
'Woah, Cate. What's got your panties in a wad?"
"I-I don't know. I gotta go. Bye." And with that, the line went dead. Confused, I went downstairs where my mom was watching 16 & Pregnant. Great. Now she'll get it in her head that I'm going to turn out like that.
"Hey, mom. I'm going to the mall to get an outfit for the concert."
Without looking or missing a beat, she said, "Okay. Don't have sex."
I rolled my eyes and got into my car, calling Cate again. "Hey, meet me at the mall."
"Okay, why?"
"You'll see." I hung up and put my phone into my bag and drove to the mall. I waited in the lobby for Cate, and she arrived 2 minutes later in her mom's blue SUV.
"My car's in the shop," She said, motioning to the van. I nodded and we walked into the mall, our shoes echoing on the linolium floor. "So, what are we doing here, anyway?"
"We need outfits for the concert, duh!" That was my excuse. I just wanted to get away from the drama. We walked into the first store, a little boutique with adorable shoes and handbags. Picking up a pair of hideous brown flats with yellow accents, I turned to Cate. "I'm going for an ugly-chic look."
Cate giggled and picked up neon blue 7 inch heels. "I'm going for that Nikki Minaj look!" We both laughed and put down the shoes and started looking seriously for some shoes. I found a pair of plack flats with silver decals and showed them to Cate.

FanfictionUPDATE: Yikes this is embarrassing. **DISCLAIMER** I wrote this when I was twelve years old. There is a lot of errors, and no, the British do not celebrate our independence. It's overall a book that I'm not proud of. But you guys seem to like it...
