"You win." She said as she slowly took small steps forward with her hands in the air. "Okay? I won't fight, I won't run. Just let him go, Please" She cried with such a power in her words, such love and devotion.

"YOU...won't fight?" Carter questioned, not caring to hide the disbelief in his voice. "Yeah, like that'll happen,"

"I'm serious, I'm giving up. You are holding the very thing that will force me to obey you," She begged, tears uncontrollably racing down her face, "Ple-please just let him go," falling down onto her knees looking at her fiance' he Urged Harper to not give up, with his eyes to fight for herself rather to waste her life for his.

"You'd give up everything, everything for him?" Carter said walking closer to the bound a gagged Theo, pointing with a long knife at Theo's face. "This worthless piece of crap? You'd stay for him?"

"Yes, I'd give the world to save him" she answered without a second thought.

"Well, we can't have you give up so easliy" Carter remarked as he dragged Theo to a standing position, with Carter arm holding the knife to his neck. "Say goodbye Harper" Before Harper even had a chance to react Carter with one flick of his wrist, slit the throat of the only person Harper has loved. Blood began pouring out of him too much, too fast.

"NO!" She screeched driving forward and catching Theo before he fell to the ground, he was gone before she even had a chance to say goodbye. She bawled clutching his head to her chest crying harder than she ever thought possible. His blood soaked her clothes, and her hands all she could smell was his blood, the blood of the man she loved more than anything. He was gone, left her with nothing, nothing to lose, nothing to fight for, it was all for nothing. "No, Don't leave me. I love you, why'd you have to leave me-" she cried into his chest allowing for his blood to stain her face.

"Because" Carter cut her off as he bent down to wipe Theo's blood off his knife, and onto Theo's shirt. "He never really loved you. Now," Carter said leaning to Harper and leaned into her face so close that's their noses touched and she could feel his breath in her. "Now" He began again, "there's no reason to fight"

He stood up, walked towards the darkness and turned back to look at her and held his hand out for her to join him. Slowly she stood kissing Theo goodbye, "I love you" she whispered in his ear, "This is for you," she said standing up with more courage than she thought she had.

Walking towards Carter, Harper slipped her hand to her back pocket grabbing the knife Theo gave her for her birthday last year. Carter stood smiling, believing he won, he had no idea what she was capable of. She broke off into a sprint with her knife out.

She collided into his dense chest swinging all her limbs in a wild rage, crying screaming doing everything she could do to hurt him. Yet, he didn't even seem to be affected by her attempts,to end his life. She fought, Until she could fight no longer, until all she could do was fall to the ground, in despair. She wasn't strong enough, she couldn't save him. She never could save anyone.

Carter looked himself over finding only a few minor scrapes and cuts was, furious. "You cut me." He stated, she didn't even look up at him. He reached down ripped her chin to look at him. "Don't ever do something like that again, I may not kill you, but there are worse things than death." She felt chills run down her spine and she thought of the horror that was now her life.

He stood releasing her, "Now, Come." He said with almost a complete tone change from the menacing voice to one resembling that of a housewife from the suburbs. He lowered her hand in front of her face and reluctantly she took it. He pulled her to her feet and lead her out of the room, into the darkness, leaving the room of light, leaving her life behind, following without care.

She never looked back to see what remained of Theo, she didn't dare look back to be reminded of what she had lost.
