Broken

This man was going to get what he deserved.

"Alexander." The voice was different. So sweet.

I began to squeeze this man's genitals even harder. He looked as if he wanted to scream, but groaned instead.

"Alexander!"

It was that sweet melody again. I couldn't ignore it for long. And I couldn't let the other guests wake up to this very rude disturbance could I? I let go of the drunken man and took a step back, letting him fall in a heap of his own pathetic tears. The only reason he was here was, I suppose, because he thought his mate for the night--my beloved Kimberly--had chosen me over him. In a sexual way... Which, of course and truly unfortunately, was not the case. However, what was wrong with Katherine?

My eyes burned into her soul, making her cringe and look away. I smiled. "Please, Katherine," I said, waving to the man as if he were a sack of potatoes,"relieve him of this place."

Katherine hesitated. She flitted her serpent eyes to my darling Kimberly. Perhaps the reason you left your mate tonight was because of her? Oh poor, poor little girl. You've gone astray. You've become so infatuated with me, you aren't thinking clearly I now realize. What will I do with you? Then, she shook her head and left the room. I looked toward the door she'd just shut, fondly. And in no more than a minute, that fondness for another girl vanquished from my heart as my one true love approached me.

Her eyes held sadness. No anger. There was worry, as well. Worry for me? I felt a heat rise into my cheeks. "My love..."

"You tried to kill me."

My heart nearly broke. Yet again tonight.

The drunken man got up, grasping the wall--and his tender area--and stumbled back out of the room. He made certain not to utter one filthy word under his retched breath. After he shut the door, or tried to, as I could still see the latch, I turned to embrace her. She flinched as my fingers curled around her delicate arms. My touch was so light. Why was she behaving this way? Was she scared of me now? I started to tremble. "S-Sweetie..I didn't mean to do it.." I shook my head repeatedly. "Really! I-I'm so sorry. Forgive me. Please."

Kimberly shook herself out of my hands. A single tear fell from her left eye as she backed away from me, shaking her own scared head. I watched that tear carefully as it fell from her face. She was so sad. So afraid. She ran out of the room and left me alone.

All alone.

"I'm not sure where you'll be staying yet," I heard a deep, familiar voice saying to a giggle. "I need to ask our master that. Ya know, since you're new."

My hand slid across the polished wood as I made my way upstairs to my room. My eyes looked ahead, but they did not see. I was dazed. I was confused. The voice grew nearer. It made its way down the steps, followed by more giggles. It was beginning to annoy me. I finally saw the two in front of me when a hand touched my shoulder.

"Hello, sir," Dean stated, bowing his head. "We--Well, I was actually looking for you. This girl here is new and I was wondering what rooms are available for her."

You look happy. My eyes never left his radiant face as he allowed this girl to hold onto his arm. Usually he'd rudely shake her off. There's so much I still do not know about you, Dean.

"Sir?"

I blinked twice. "Yes, yes," I smiled, fleetingly, at both him and the girl,"she may stay with Kimberly for now."

I said her name. Oh, the pain. I must not say her name again. Or even think of her. Not now.

"Uh, sir," the girl said. She avoided looking at me directly, her innocent eyes darting left and right. When she did look at me, to tell me this wondrous, disturbing thing, I saw a hidden evil in her glowing green eyes. I saw myself. "Thank you for having me."

Although I was slightly shaken, I didn't miss a beat. I offered my most dazzling grin, bowed gracefully for her, and said,"You, my dear, are most welcome. I'd love to stay and get to know you more, but I must head to bed. I am so very tired this night." I planted a small kiss on her cheek, and continued my ascent up the winding staircase.

Upon entering my room, I pulled my shirt up over my head, and collapsed on my king sized bed. And I began to dream.

Someone was kissing me passionately. I kissed them back, biting their lip. When she pulled away, it wasn't who I expected it to be. It wasn't who I wanted it to be. It was the girl I'd just met. I scowled and pushed her away. "What are you doing?!"

She simply laughed. I noticed she was twirling a long strand of blonde hair around her finger, watching me intently. And then she began to pull her hair out. I watched in horror as blood gushed from her head with each yank. She didn't flinch, or wince in pain at all. She just kept her eyes on me and continued to pull all of her hair out until she was nearly bald. Bloody clumps of hair scattered what I realized was the green ground of the Garden. The summer breeze was slow. The daisies bloomed, and the roses. The day was very beautiful. But I was faced with a terrible sight standing in front of me.

"You know me, Alex."

I shuddered.

"Don't you remember?"

Her voice changed. It was deeper now.

"Remember me, Alex?"

"GET AWAY FROM ME!!" I shouted.

I awoke disoriented. And I was alone.
