He doesn't even budge or let go and it makes me wince at how firmly he's holding my wrist.Everyone's busy in their own work and neither of them bother to look at what's going on.
"Someone as beautiful as you shouldn't be alone at this time of night, come on let's go somewhere private," he says forcing me to walk.
"You idiot!," I yell,as I yank my wrist free and punch him hard on his face.
He holds his face for a second while his friends grab me and laugh.
"You'll pay for this you brat!," he growls.
He grabs me forcefully and hurdles me over.
"Let go yo-" I scream.Jones walks along the doorway.I see him on his phone. Please look in my direction,please..
He turns and looks at me.Thank God.The creep looks behind at me and snarls.
"Oh we're gonna have a wonderf-"
Jones comes in all of a sudden and punches him hard, making him collapse to the floor. His friends jerk me forward and my palm hits the floor.I stumble back in horror and look at the scene in front of me.
"Susan go outside,NOW!," Jones yells.
I run and make my way towards the door but several friends of his block my way.Bob comes running in,making the men move aside.Guests stride over to the other side of the room in horror.
"Antonio,what the hell!," Bob yells.
Antonio gets up angrily and lunges at Jones, he dodges, grabs a bottle and smashes it over his head.
"Who the hell are you?Her rescuer?," he says nearing me.
Jones' face darkens.
"Get your damn hands off her!," he yells harshly.
"Or else what? You're gonn-"
Jones kicks him hard in his stomach.Antonio crouches to the ground.Jones punches him in the face and blood spurts out of his nose.Antonio just lies there, limp.I look at Jones. He takes his coat from the couch that I didn't notice before,"Let's get out of here," he says as he grabs my elbow and takes me outside. We scurry towards the parking lot.An old man in a prim and proper suit stands beside Jones' car.
"Give me your car keys," Jones says.
I obey and hand them over.
"Brahms, please drive Miss Waterloo's car to her house, she'll be with me," he says, settling inside the car.
"But,he doesn't know where I live,"I say.
"5th street,Bremforshire," he says looking at Brahms.
He nods and walks towards my car.
How does he know my address?
"Get in," he says.
It makes me uncomfortable to see him like this.I settle inside and he takes off towards the road. The atmosphere is tense.
"How did this even start?," he asks.
"I don't know,he stumbled into me earlier, when you went to answer the call,he was staring at me,forced me..I don't know..," I say biting my lip.
"Do you even know how dangerous it was, that bastard!," he says angrily."He could've done something to you,you should've been careful, you're too innocent to deal with..,I shouldn't have asked you to come," he says angrily.
"It's not your fault," I say looking away.I feel him looking at me from the corner of his eye.
"Anything could've happened to you," he says, almost in a whisper.I look at him and see his grim expression.
The rest of the drive,we both stay silent. He drives without saying a single word and I stare into my palms. The'yre scratched. He stops the car all of a sudden and I look at him expectantly.
"Come on," he says.
I follow him outside and find myself in front of a beautiful sea-view.It's breath-taking.The cool wind blows beautifully and blows my hair to the back.He walks up to the railing and stands there, sighing.
"Whenever I need some alone time or peace I come here."
I step up and stand beside him.Away from the city lights,so calm,so reassuring.
"What you did back there,I..I don't have words to express my gratitude.I'm sorry I caused you trouble."
He looks at me gently.
"Susan to fight this world,to be a cop,you need to be strong and harsh,I know you'll learn quick enough but that's how life works around here," he says gently.
He looks towards the sea.
"I was like you too, soft, scared..hell," he says laughing.
"Scared?," I ask curiously.
He nods looking at me.
"Scared enough to obey my father into marriage, scared enough to think I'd loose my mother one day," he says,"I've dealt with it all.A rich man who lives alone,a big property owner, having a luxurious life.Yeah,I've dealt with everything," he says wistfully.
"I'm sorry to hear this."
" It had to happen," he says abruptly.
" What was your age when you lost your mother?," I ask.
He looks around him,as the wind rufftles his hair making it look rough. He looks so calm and handsome in the moonlight.
"Eight," he says.I sigh and look ahead of me.The blue waves give the sea-view a deep blue texture. It reminds me of Jones' eyes.
"Don't you have any relatives?," he asks.
I turn to face him.
"Only my aunt and cousin from my maternal side, they live in California. The rest I don't know, maybe I do have some from my paternal side.I've never met them," I say.
"That's...sad," he says slowly.
I nod.
"How did you know my address?" I ask curiously with a smile.
He comes near.
"I happen to know a lot of things," he says.
I stare into his dreamy eyes from where I stand. For a moment,I think as if time slows down.
"We should probably go,its getting late, you need to rest," he says all of a sudden.
He walks off towards his car before me,as I watch him.. . . .
I sit on the couch with Shepherd lying in my lap as I pat him.Its already one at night and sleep doesn't come.Brahms did bring my car home, although I don't know where he went, probably back to Jones' place.
Shepherd whizzes and snorts.
"Were you out with friends? Where did you go? I got worried about you," I say snuggling him close to me.My thought keeps on drifting towards Jones. Is it possible he felt something? I sigh heavily. Why do I feel so safe around him even though I've just known him for a day or two?
I close my eyes and try to clear my head a bit. He says I need to be strong both physically and emotionally.I need to solve this case quick.I have to prove him that I can be who he wants me to be.Strong,brave,everything.
I get up from the couch and head towards my room, carrying Shepherd in my arms as I crawl into bed.
I just hope everything turns out as I expect it to be.I want to do everything I can which proves I'm capable.
I want to prove myself so bad right now.
