Well I've been cheated (shunned and turned away)

I stopped believing (that there would be a)

Day when you come around

Show me what I was missing

Pulled me from the lost and founds

Help me get over my bitter nights.

It was 7:30 at night in Edinburgh and I decided to leave my flat for a walk. I live in a small complex near a park and a few shops. It was already dark, and cloudy, too. In my skinny jeans, graphic shirt, jumper, and beanie I was feeling cold. I was just walking about in the park enjoying the wind. It smelled like rain, which I loved. I stopped at a bench for a bit, just sitting with my eyes closed and thinking. I was at university right now, studying to become a forensic biologist. It was almost Christmas break (I had this weekend, which was long for some reason, meaning I had Monday off, and then this week and that was it), but I wasn't sure I was excited for it. My family all resided in America, where I grew up, and it didn't seem worth it to fly home. However, my flat mate Abby would be going to her family's, leaving me alone in Scotland. Eh, I'd worry about it later. I suddenly wanted tea, which is a usual feeling for me. I love tea. Whenever I drink coffee it just makes me feel ill. I checked my phone to see it was 8:30 now. The coffee shop closes at 10:00, so  I had time. I pulled my sweater sleeves over my hands, a regular habit of mine, and walked to the scattering of shops. I entered the Starbucks to find it nearly empty. There was only one worker, and he looked half asleep. I ordered my tea and sat down near a window.

A few minutes later I heard the little shop bell ring and a guy around my age of 22 walked in. Whenever I go places where there are other people...I...I stare. I JUST DO.  I swear it's not creepy I'm-totally-stalking-you staring, it's more reserved I'm-staring-at-you-but-I'm-so-good-you-don't-notice staring. If that makes it more acceptable... So when he walked in, I just focused on my current shoe choice; my sixth pair of Converse. Don't judge-those six pairs of shoes are my only ones. The ones I was wearing were maroon high tops, and I had wanted them for ages. They were a little celebration present for my vlogiversary two weeks ago.

I waited another song {I had my earbuds in and was listening to music off my iPhone} before looking up and casually diverting my eyes to the newcomer, who was ordering his drink. He had spikey brown hair and plastic glasses that I could see behind his ears. He was sporting jeans, a hoodie, and Converse just like I was. I pulled my eyes back to my phone, checking for any messages. My best friend who lives in London sometimes texts me at night. We both have trouble falling asleep, me more often than her. As I was checking the guy came over and took the seat next to me.  After a few awkward minutes where I could feel his eyes on me, I looked up, pocketing my phone.

"Hi. My name is Avery," I said, giving a smile. I was fairly friendly, even though I often preferred to be on my own, or talking to one of my better friends. Who knew, this guy could be really cool.

"Liam," he said, sticking out his hand. I had this feeling that I knew him from somewhere. This feeling got stronger when he said his name, but I couldn't put my finger on who he was.

I shook it before asking "So, why are you here at-" I checked my phone for the time, "9:30?" I should have been concerned that the worker would ask us to leave soon, but I wasn't, seeing as I had witnessed him fall asleep in a chair after taking Liam's order.

"Couldn't sleep," he said simply.

"Me neither. I never can, so I just go for walks. I like being alone in the dark," I explained, hoping that I didn't sound creepy.

"Really? Maybe we can walk about in the dark together some time?" he asked, holding out his phone to me. I took it and entered my number while he entered his into my phone. "Are you from around here? You have an interesting accent," he pointed out.

"I grew up in America," I said. "I'm here for an internship."

We went on talking for quite a bit before I had to head back. If Abby woke up and I wasn't home at 10:30 she'd get worried. Liam went to wake up the worker while I threw out our empty cups. The worker closed up the shop, leaving Liam and I to say our farewells.

"Well...Later," I said, pulling at my sweater sleeves.

"Yeah. I'll text you."

"Cool..." I trailed off, not sure what to do next. Then, out of nowhere, my body decided to hug Liam. I never hug anyone. Ever. Yet I wrapped my hands around his neck, causing him to place his on my waist. "Bye," I said after a minute, pulling away. I turned towards the direction of my flat, sending one more wave to a grinning Liam.

As I walked home I felt truely happy. It takes a lot to make me feel that content. I still felt warm from Liam's hug, and I felt bouncy. Now I really wouldn't be able to sleep. I clicked on some music, and then it hit me. I just met, heck, I just hugged Liam Dryden. The vlogger. I had seen every one of his vlogs. I wasn't obsessed, but it was still awesome, especially for a little known vloggist such as myself. I opened a new message and sent it to Liam.

"Hey, you vlog, don't you?"

 "Yup. :D"

"Me too!"

"Cool! I'll have to look you up tomorrow."

"Sounds good. Anyway, good night."

"You too. xx"

I practically skipped back to the flat before slipping into pajama pants and a tee shirt. I slid under the covers and actually fell asleep. Instead of feeling restless, worried, stressed, bored, or awake, I felt a bit tired, and over the moon. It was nice.

Hey! This is my first solo fan fiction, so no laughing. I just really wanted to write something easy, and fan fiction was my first thought. And Liam is cool. So I combined the two. Anyway, thanks for reading! And no being a silent reader! I don't bite, so don't be afraid to comment. :D
