After eating a piece of bread each for breakfast the duo made their way to the stables to retrieve their horses.
The way back to the Oasis would take another few hours, but to their luck or misfortune, they got stopped by a ginormous rock with eyes walking past them. They stopped in their tracks and Toth ordered to follow its footprints back to where the Stone came from.
A few hours of riding later they came to a halt in front of a cave. The two entered carefully and split up to find the Nomad.
Toth went to the left and Skout to the right. Skout pulled out her torch and lit it to light the gloomy path in front of her. The air was humid and the ground was slippery. She had trouble keeping her balance. She slid down a slope in the ground and landed on her backpack. Like a bug on its back, she was stuck, desperately trying to turn around and shake the large, book-filled bag off her shoulders. She heard two claps behind her and her bag awoke. Slowly it stood up and got her back in her feet. Then as sudden as it came to life it went back to being inanimate. Skout turned around to find the nomad standing a few feet from her. He held her torch up. Skout quickly got out her knife before remembering that it wouldn't be any good and hiding it behind her back again.
"Sorry friend but I won't let you get away this time!" She said as intimidating as possible. The nomad backs away slowly. He didn't want to fight, he had thought Scout was his friend. What had he done to get her to go after him as well?
"Believe me, I know you aren't a bad guy, but if I bring you back then maybe I can make Toth proud." She answered his thoughts as if she had heard them. Friend quickly shook his head and waved his hands to signal his disinterest in a confrontation. He turned on the spot and ran. Although Skout had no trouble keeping up with him, she never managed to catch him. The chase led through the maze of tunnels in the large cave. The only light source was Skouts torch which the nomad animated with two claps and was now running in front of him to light the way. Suddenly he lost his footing on the slippery floor and started swirling around. Skout who had not noticed his halt ran into him and they both fell through a crack in the ground. The fall was longer than expected and he knew it might kill the redhead. Without hesitation, he pulled her close and turned so his back would hit the ground first, protecting the girl. The impact was hard but not hard enough to kill him. He slowly let go of the girl and tried sitting up. One hand on his pounding head the other still around Skouts arm, he leans on a wall. It's only now that Skout dared to open her eyes. In shock, she realized what the Nomad had done to protect her.

"F-friend!?" She sat up, still in the nomads' arms. He couldn't answer her so he just gave her a soft smile and tried signaling her that he was ok. His well being was not important. After all, he was an ancient being. He had survived much much worse. She was what he was worried about. If anything has happened to her, he would have done anything to heal her again. She came before him, then she was human, fragile and important to him. Of course, he of all people knew that she was not a weakling. Her physical form may be weak but she is one of the strongest humans he ever encountered, even if she didn't realize it yet.
He tried to use signs to ask her if she was hurt.
"No, I don't think so. You blocked the fall." Skout responded and started inspecting herself for any wounds. She shook her head again. Amazingly she had not gotten a single scratch. The nomad was not satisfied with that answer and stood up slowly, not to shake the girl up too much and held her in his arms. He placed her on the floor on the other side of the small hole they had landed in and started examining her. Skout at first to confused to say anything regained control of her mouth and reassured him that she was not hurt.
Both looked at each other for a while. Wondering why they were so comfortable next to the other and why the others even cared. How did Skout even understand the Nomad? Some questions Skout had trouble finding answers to.
The two looked at each other and nodes in unison. They stood up and looked to the gap in the sealing. Skouts backpack had removed itself from her and was now standing in front over the gap. The walls were pretty flat and it would be impossible to climb up.
"I have roped in my bag?" Skout suggested.
That could have worked, but her bag was stuck fifteen feet above them. She gave up on the idea since the bag didn't fit through the crevice. Friend leaned against the wall and formed a U shape with his hands. Skout understood and backed away before sprinting at him. She leaped onto his hands and he threw her up. For two unusually short individuals, they came quite high but not high enough. Skout started falling back down but the Nomad quickly moved under her and attempted to catch her. He collapsed under the impact.

"Well, that didn't work. Any other ideas, friend?" He shook his head sadly. "Well then let's call for help. Toth should still be in the cave." The nomad shook his head. He had a better idea. He waved up to Skouts backpack and it ran off.
"Where did it go?" The nomad didn't react to the question, he just sat back down and leaned onto the wall. Skout kept walking in circles and try to think of some way to escape this hell hole.
