"I quit."
My boss, John stares at me dumbfounded. "What?" he asks.
"I quit." I repeat looking him in the eye. "I'm sorry but this isn't what I want to do anymore."
"Is this some kind of joke? You've only been here for five months! Why do you want to leave? What will you do instead?" John blurts out all at once. John is my dads friend and one of the best lawyers in the country which is why I managed to get a job here after I left college. I tell him that I have decided to do the tattoo apprenticeship I had been offered by my mums tattoo artist after she got my art work tattooed.
"You can't be serious." John scowls at me. He is a very religious catholic and is against tattoos, he lectured me all about it when I first told him about the apprenticeship. I always wanted to be a tattoo artist but everyone would tell me I couldn't. "You won't make enough money" they told me, or "you're too clever for that" they woud say. But what about what I want to do. What about what makes me happy? "You could do both" mum told me. She doesn't seem to realise how hard, tiring, stressful and time consuming being a lawyer actually is. I couldn't cope with that stress. We all know I don't handle stress well...
