It was the end of August, just after my birthday and I was out with James. We had established that we liked each other months before but neither of us had done anything about it. I guess it was because things were good enough as they were.
We hadn't seen each other in over a month because our holidays overlapped in the most annoying way; I was on holiday for two weeks and the day before I got back, he left for two weeks. And on the same day he got back I left for another week about an hour before he got home. Before then we had spent all our free time together and it was amazing. For the first time in a very long while, I was happy. It was the best feeling and one that I had forgotten.
I guess I took it for granted when I was happy, because to every normal person, that's just how it is. And you don't realise how crucial it is to be happy until you're not.
It was hot so James and I decided to sit on the grass in the park for a while. Once we had finished our ice creams we were goofing around, laughing at each other and ourselves. I couldn't stop smiling. We sang along to high school musical songs and danced together. If anyone saw us they would've thought we were looney, but I wouldn't of cared in the slightest. Especially when he stopped singing to pull me closer and kiss me. And in that moment I had no other care in the world. I loved him and he loved me and that was all I ever needed.
