Jack's alarm went off and he rolled over and slapped it. He jumped out of bed and got dressed. It was Friday, not only Friday, but the last day of school. Today Lydia and he were going on a date. Well, not a date, more like a friends night out.

But he was still excited. Today he was going to confess his love for Lydia. Jack had been in love with Lydia for a while now. They were going to a movie tonight. Jacks mother came into the room.

"Last day of your sophomore year, Jack. Make some memories."

"I plan to, mom, don't worry." Jack smiled.

"Tell Lydia I said hello." his mother said, and walked out of the room. Jack grinned and ran out his door, down the stairs and out the front door. He sprinted to his school and rushed inside.

Lydia was sitting at their normal table. When Jack walked up, she smiled.

"Hey, Jack. Ready for tonight?" she asked, somewhat shyly. It made Jack wonder whether she felt the same about him as he did for her. I'll find out tonight. He winked.

"'Course I am, Lydia. My mom said hi. Ready for a day of doing nothing in class?"

"You bet! Today is going to be so boring! It's a good thing we got something planned for tonight." she smiled again. Jack grinned.

"Yeah." The bell rang. Lydia and Jack walked together to science class. "How far do you think we can push Mr. Brown today?" Jack and Lydia had had a long standing tradition of pushing their science teacher to his limits. It was something they rather enjoyed.

"I think he'll be ok until we mention his nose." Lydia giggled. Mr. Browns nose was slightly tweaked because he'd had it broken in an accident when he was helping build the school.

"Aww, that's not very far. Today's gonna be boring." but Jack smiled. "I bet we can say something about his grandkids. That's not too far. We'll see."

Jack and Lydia stopped by the little coffee shop that was at the high school. They each got a little coffee and went to class. Sitting down at their desks, Jack leaned over and handed Lydia a note. So do you like like anyone at our school?  She read it and glanced at him. She wrote something down and passed it back.

When he got it, Jack opened it, trying to seem calm. He wasn't doing a very good job. Yes, but my parents don't want me to date. They won't explain why though.

Jack glanced at her with a perplexed expression on his face. Lydia was blushing and looking at him. Jack blinked and again wondered if she loved him, too.

Jack winked at her and her blush got redder. Maybe. Just maybe I actually have a chance.

Mr. Brown walked in and set a textbook down. He looked around the room, a smile on his face. "I suppose this is the last I'll see of some of you. For some, I'm sorry to see you go. For others," he looked pointedly at Jack and Lydia, "not so much."

Jack smiled and said, "I'll miss you, Mr. Brown, you and our exchanges." Lydia grinned and nodded. "You know you're our favorite." Here their grins turned evil. "Although I can't say the same of your grandkids because of your nose there."

Mr. Brown looked at Jack, an angry expression working it's way into his face. Then he paused, smiled at Jack kindly, and moved on.

"Today is your last day..." They spent that entire day being bored and talking of random things. The entire time, Jack wondered about Lydia. Then they left to go to the movies.
