the story of a yandere
set in Japan

I walked into the classroom as I always had done. My chair lay empty, as expected. I sat down calmly, taking out my book as I did so. Life has always been simple for me. Do as I'm told and maybe something good will come of it. I am good at pretending to be "happy", but I have never really felt such feeling. My friends sometimes wonder if I have depression when they catch me accidentally forgetting my disguise, but I just don't feel anything. I'm completely fine.

That oh so lovely day, a new student arrived. The teacher introduced him as Kim Taehyung, a transfer student from South Korea. It may only just be overseas, but something about him was... exotic. Enticing. Enveloping. His sharp jawline, deep voice, messy hair, and those destructive eyes. What couldn't you love? I didn't really know how to feel about it, and assumed it was this thing called love.

He sat next to me and his cheeks flushed red as he realised every girl in the class was staring at him. Every girl, except me. Like I said, I do what I'm told. I was not told to prance around some boy. I carried on my work, doodling a bit when I had finished the task. He tapped on my shoulder, and I turned my head.

"Excuse me, but what's your name?" he asked, his voice somehow melodic. I replied my name, and he sighed as if I had recited the most beautiful poem he had ever heard. He looked back at me.
"Aren't you gonna ask me mine?" he asked in Korean. I needed to ask him, I must do as I'm told.
"What's your name?" I said with as little emotion as ever, I had no need to pretend to be nice as he didn't know me at all anyway.
"Kim Taehyung... why are you so cold?" he kept distracting my drawing and it was so bothersome. I decided to close my book, and I turned around my seat to face him.
"I am not cold. I am not anything. If you want to get closer to me, understand this. I answer to everyone. But no one answers to me. You either have me as my nothing, or your everything. Choose which it'll be." I then turned my seat back to face the board.
"What do you mean-"

He was cut off by a loud, stern voice from the front of the classroom.
"Your first day and you're already disobeying my rules? Your punishment is detention straight after school." he scoffed, and some of the girls started giggling.
"I'd give him a punishment any day." one of the girls spoke, disgust apparently the feeling I had. For the rest of the class I carried on my work and drawing when free, but I felt those eyes piercing through my skull as Kim Taehyung stared at me. When the bell rang, I collected my books. As I was going to walk out, he walked into me harshly and pushed all my books onto the floor. Our teacher turned around after hearing the sound, and she shouted at us.
"Y/N and Taehyung, stay behind after school and explained what happened." My eyes widened at the fact of me not doing anything, but a slight smirk crawled into his mouth as he stood beside me.

The rest of the day was like normal, drawing and the dreadful custom of socialising seeming to be popular with the girls and the Korean boy. The urge to call him baka was strong, but seeing how idiotically he acted in class I assumed he wouldn't understand that Japanese word. He tried to talk with people, but his lack of Japanese speaking kept him limited to certain words and phrases. He seemed to sulk, but I was just focused on my work.

The end bell rang and the boy smiled at me, as if he could do something that would make me his. All the girls sighed at the memory of us needing to stay behind, but the teacher ushered them out quickly.
"So you two, what happened?" she questioned, in Korean so that he'd understand completely. I opened my mouth, but Kim Taehyung answered first.
"I guess she just fell head over heals for me, Miss." she laughed and looked at me, expecting me to blush or show some reaction. But, like most situations, I didn't have any need to.
"Sorry for causing a commotion sensei, I will be careful not to in the future." I bowed in apology, grabbed my bag and walked out of the classroom. Soon after, I felt footsteps behind me.
"Y/N! Wait!" I stopped and turned around, only to be grabbed by the boy. He then held my face and put his lips on mine. He closed his eyes, but mine stayed open. I wasn't really sure about what I was meant to do. He then pulled away.

"Tell me how you feel about me." he forced out of his mouth, exhausted from running and then kissing me. I complied.
"I think you are very attractive." I said, looking at the structure of his face. He smiled a box smile, which seemed to make my stomach uneasy. I didn't understand what that was. He then spoke again.
"I think you're really attractive as well. Please say you will date me!" he spoke ecstatically. I said simply "I will date you." and he hugged me tightly. I slightly couldn't breathe, but I didn't have to complain. He held my hand and said he would take me home, so we walked home together.
