Twitter fiction - also known as Twitterature - is about telling stories using 280 characters, or less. It can be a good exercise, especially for those of us who enjoy writing very short stories, but also a bit frustrating for those who do not enjoy spending a long time editing (i.e. deleting all unnecessary words in a story).
Not all writers use Twitter to publish very short stories. Some writers have published longer works of fiction on Twitter. If you're interested to learn how to do that, check out this very interesting article on the New Yorker about the possibilities, and the limitations, of Twitter fiction:
