It's Friday afternoon and I was almost done packing, after packing the last box. I stood up and stretched, I was finally done.
Today me and my parents were moving from Manhattan to Queens in New York. The reason for moving was due to my parents occupation. My father is a famous doctor who has different branches in different states in New York, one of the branch was located in queen. While mum is a lawyer, the firm she was currently working for promoted and transferred her to queens, so we had to pack.
For the last time I glanced at my now empty room remembering the sleepovers with my friend. With that done I closed the door and walked down the stairs.
I found my parents both talking on their phones while the movers were picking up the packed boxes out out of the house into the moving truck outside.
My parents are not like those typical rich parents who don't have time for their children. My parents even though are busy and don't have time to waste, always create time for me, which am grateful for.
I was so deep in my thoughts that I didn't hear my dad calling me.
"Sindy,sindy,sindy....... " my dad kept saying, snapping his fingers at my face pulling me out of my thoughts.
"Are you alright" dad asked
"Yeah, just thinking that's all" I replied
"Anyway, it's time, let's go" mum said after ending her call.
We all exited the now empty house house and made our way towards the car. We decided to use the car since we were moving to another state.
I entered the backseat and buckled my seatbelt, got out my phone and my ear buds playing my favorite song, shape of you by Ed sheeran.
I sighed "this is going to be a long ride" with that, I closed my eyes and then started to drift with my song.
*******************************************
I felt someone shaking me awake.
I opened my eyes gently and slowly and saw my mum in my blurry vision.
My mum features is not bad for her age, she looked like she was in her twenties.
"Honey, wake up. We're here" she announced while smiling at me
I removed my seatbelt and stretched, I heard some bone popping back in place.
I alighted car only to be welcomed by the lovely warmth of the sun, the chirping of the birds, the quite ness and the beauty of the neighborhood . It was breathtaking, the wind was in my hair and I felt happy.
If I would have known that our new neighborhood was going to be this beautiful I wouldn't have hesitated to move here.
"Wow" I said
" I know right, I said the same thing when I first saw it" mum said as she appeared beside me.
"Wow" I repeated
"You really like it, don't you" dad asked as he also stood beside me taking in the sight.
"Like it, I LOVE IT" I said "It's so beautiful, clean, peaceful and so ........ wow"
"Well get used to it because this is our new home" mum said while pointing to a white duplex with a black roof.
The house was a little bit bigger than our old house. Even though my parents were rich, they didn't like to show off. So we settle for things that blends within the crowd.
"Oh and before I forget, we are neighbors with a popular philanthropist" dad said.
"OK enough" mum said while walking to the front door and opening it.
I stepped into the new house only to find it empty, it was painted white but still empty.
"Why is it so empty" I asked as I looked around.
"Oh don't worry about it, the movers will soon arrive" Mum said.
A sound was heard outside and dad went to check it, it was the movers they were here.
The movers entered the house all carrying different boxes.
"Sindy dear take the movers up to your room, pick any room you want" my dad said.
"Thanks dad" I replied.
I walked up the stairs with the movers following behind.
There were three doors.
The first door was painted blue, the second door was painted white the last door was painted in Green.
I didn't want to keep the movers waiting so choose one, the white door.
The room was also painted white, it had three doors.
I turned round and told the movers to drop the box where ever.
A queen size was placed at the center of the room. I walked to the opposite side of the room were one of the door was.
It had bookshelves, thank goodness because I had a collection of books, it also had a study table where I could write, read and also do my homework.
I opened the door and was welcomed by the the breath taking view of the backyard,it was beautiful.
In the corner of the backyard there was a red hammock swing big enough for two people, it was going to be my hang out place.
It was perfect.I walked out and closed the door behind me and walked to the next door.
I walked in and it was a walk-in closet. It was not that big but big enough for twice the amount of clothes I have, I need to go shopping.
I walked out and proceeded to the next door, it led to the bathroom. It had a shower that was enclosed with glass to prevent steam from escaping it.
It was freaking awesome.
I walked out of the bathroom, I saw that the movers had left, leaving me alone to sort out my boxes.
I started with my box containing all my toiletries, it wasn't that much so it was easy to sort.
Next was my books, it took me two hours to arrange it in a particular order.
Next were my school books, pens, laptop my backpacks. I had so many to match with my outfit.
Finally I got to the boxes containing my clothes, makeup, hair appliances, jewelries and shoes.
I dragged all the boxes containing them to my closet, then started sorting it out.
When I was done it was night time, I went down to check on my parents. I found them in the kitchen having pizza, I didn't even notice that I was hungry till I barfed down five slices of pizza.
My parents were looking at me like I was some crazed hungry mad woman.
When I was done eating I retired to my room, I took off all my clothes and had a shower. By the time I was done my muscles felt relaxed.
As soon as i dressed in my jammies and I fell on my bed, I was out, it was that soft.
