"Far Away"
Not an Idol! Student! AU! Donghan>>
[Name] has known Donghan for a long time. Since their first words.
Their parents were close friends with one another and they were all in the same neighborhood, resulting in a lot of playdates together. They went to the same school and they hung out there too. When Donghan was bullied for being shy, [Name] was the one who came to the rescue.
That's how it has always been.
When they reached high-school, though, it changed a whole lot.
Donghan changed a whole lot.
Their hang-outs were limited to just walking to school together, helping with studying, and when their parents were away hanging out somewhere.
As Donghan finally reached high-school, he got braver and he got more friends. [Name] wasn't really needed anymore, but Donghan tried his best to make sure she didn't think like that. Which failed because all he could do was wave at her and ask for answers for their school work. Or just be with her when he felt like it. They were in the same class too, but their seats were far from each other. That didn't help at all.
No matter how close they were, there was still a large distance that couldn't be filled no matter what.
"Donghan, you should let me hang out with you guys sometime. I'm lonely, you know." [Name] says with a pout as they walk to school together, bumping shoulders with him gently. "That'd be cool." He says with a smile. You'd think it was progress.
Unfortunately, he was just staring at his phone, probably talking with his friends in their group chat.
[Name] pursed her lips and sighed softly, feeling discouraged as they arrived at school. Donghan looked up from his phone to greet his friends, running towards them happily. "Morning, [Name]!" Kenta says cheerily, waving at her. His friends joined in with Kenta, waving at her happily. See? Even Donghan's new friends were nicer. "Morning, guys! I'll see you." She greets back, walking ahead of them so they wouldn't see the disappointed expression on her face.
Maybe it was time to give up on getting older Donghan to notice her.
The boys watched [Name] walk away with a sad aura surrounding her. "Donghan, you're so mean to [Name]." Taehyun clicks his tongue, slapping Donghan gently on his shoulder. "What? How?" He says, surprised. "You don't properly listen to her. You don't properly talk to her. You don't properly hang out with her. Look at her, you can feel the disappointment radiating from her. It's been like this for a while." Yongguk says, agreeing with Taehyun. "If you don't hurry, someone else will take her away!" Sanggyun sighs, clicking his tongue in disappointment towards the younger boy.
Donghan looked at Hyunbin, who shrugged and flashed him an apologetic look, agreeing with the others. Donghan turned to Kenta, who was still looking at [Name]'s retreating figure with a faraway look in his eyes. "Kenta, do you agree with them?" Donghan pouts and Kenta snaps out of his thoughts, looking to Donghan then to the place [Name] was once in, then grinning. "I think it's fine if you stay the way you are with her," Donghan brightens a little, "So that I can take her away from you." Donghan immediately nudges the older boy with a groan.
"See? Kenta's gonna take her away soon. Work hard, Donghan. Fighting." Yongguk cheers half-heartedly, walking ahead with Taehyun, everyone else following. Kenta and Sanggyun chatting behind them, Donghan and Hyunbin lagging at the back together. "I'm hopeless. I don't want [Name] to feel so bad.." Donghan complains, Hyunbin just patting his back with a little chuckle. "Why don't you treat her like you used to? Unless you really are fine with Kenta taking [Name] away like that? Fine with [Name] and him kissing, hugging, stuff like that..?" Hyunbin trails off, and Donghan hums to himself.
