Long ago when the world was young, There was a god named Nefrum. Nefrum loved humans and did everything in his power to help them. He gave humans fire when they got cold, he gave them shelter when it rained, and he gave them food when they were hungry. Everything was peaceful until humans started fighting each other.
Nefrum was confused,
"Why are you hurting each other?" he said to the humans, but he never got an answer. After a while Humans started creating weapons out of stones and sticks and started to kill for the things Nefrum gave to them. The humans demanded more fire, more shelter, and more food. Nefrum, saddened by all that has happened, decided to end this. He crafted powerful weapons made of iron with his hammer and anvil, and made Vine, the rapier of the forest. Once he created Vine he-... The mother closed the book and put it away."I think that's enough for tonight." She said smiling at her son and daughter.
"You better get some rest we have to work tomorrow."
The boy groaned wanting to hear more while the girl went to sleep,
"Please mother I want to hear the rest, I can't work in the forge tomorrow if I don't know!"
The mother smiled and snuffed out the candle that was helping her read. The boy knew that meant no, his mother can't say no so she doesn't say anything."Eli dear" the mother said,
"Goodnight I love you." She smiled at her son and slowly closed the door. The next day Eli, his sister, and his parents worked at the forge as they usually do. Eli never liked working here, the most they ever do is make tools or fix them. He never wanted to be a blacksmith, he wanted to be a knight. The smell of adventure beckoned him to follow, but he knew it was a dream never to come true.
As Eli was working on the fire his father walked up to him his giant, brown beard looked like it got burned again, "Eli could you do me a favor and deliver these tools to Mr. Kraken?" Eli nodded, grabbed the tools and walked to the man's house. The walk was a hour there and back which gave him time to imagine of being a knight, wearing shiny armor and having everything you could ever ask for. Unfortunately he knew that dream would never come true. The only people who can be trained in becoming a knight were the sons of high officials and he was a peasant blacksmith's son. If he ever tried to sneak in and pretend he was one of high class it wouldn't work. They can tell by his grey eyes, a sign of his ancestry in blacksmithing.
As he was walking home he accidentally bumped into two older boys. "Watch where you're going runt!" One boy says to Eli then he paused,
"Hey i know you, You're the blacksmith kid! Still trying to be a knight?"The boys laugh at him mocking him and calling him names. "Shut up!" Eli Yelled,
"I will be a knight no matter what it takes!" The boys stare at the red faced Eli and poke both of his grey eyes.He falls to the ground in pain while the boys continue to laugh, "You will never become a knight with those eyes." said the second boy about to die from laughter,
"Which sucks because I would love to kick your ass in sword fighting" The two boys began to kick Eli repeatedly for a few minutes then walked away"You will never be a knight, you're a failure." Those were the words that haunted him until he fell unconscious.
