Everyone was leaving in two days. Kota and the guys were leaving for two weeks for a team building camp. At the same time Jessica and Erica were going on a school trip that Erica was chaperoning. Thank goodness Derrick said he would house sit and take care of me throughout that time. He said he needed a break from his sister and her new friend, and I intensely dislike kennels. They smell, the food is not as good as it is at home, and I don't like being in a kennel for most of the day. It's too confining.

I didn't want the guys to leave because I always have fun with them, and I thought if I took something from them, they would not go. I figured if I take something from Mr. Blackbourne, they definitely would stay. I remember him coming in early this morning and setting his small briefcase on the table next to the door. He rubbed my head, then proceeded to stroll into the living room. I walked to the door and saw him and Kota talking. I quickly and silently turned around and padded up to the table. I snuck the Folio off the table and placed it in the perfect temporary hiding place.

I slunk back in the room and sat with Jessica for a while. I decided I needed to move my bounty to be on the safe side. Remembering the garage door was open, I jumped off the couch and stretched so everything appeared to be normal. Recovering the briefcase, I made my way out of the house and into the backyard, thankful the yard backed into the woods. As I trotted down the pathway to my secret hiding place with my first bounty, I admitted it was easier than expected. The look on Mr. Blackbourne's face was priceless when he could not find his "case" as he called it. The always calm and collected man was in a panic as he couldn't find it because it held his phone, tablet and reports. It was so funny, and I enjoyed watching him and everyone else search the house without any success, while Jessica rubbed my head. I chuckled to myself, as they had never thought to check under my crate cushion.

After dropping it in Kota's secret bunker in the woods right outside the back yard, I turned to head home, when I heard some crying and decided to investigate. As I trotted towards the noise, I focused on the sound. As I approached, I saw a girl climbing down a tree. Scenting the air, I can smell sickness and despair. Deciding she could use a friend, I dropped my ears and slowly approached her as she turned and faced me. She studied me as I took three steps to her and then sat down. She slowly stepped towards me, and I can smell the scent of sickness and pain that surrounded her. She rubbed my head and back of my neck. She noticed my tab and pulled it, so she could read it.

The girl smiled softly. "Hi Max. Aren't you a cute dog. I come out here every day and I have not seen you before."

She sat down, hugged me and stroked my fur. Wesat together for a while when suddenly she jumped up as said she must go. Sheyelled over her shoulder as she ran away that she would see me later. I watched as she headed further into thewoods and as I retreat back home, I made a promise see her tomorrow.
