Don't ask god to make everything alright at once because your life needs to be an interesting colouring book, not a boring maths book.
--------------------------------------
There are times when you feel a mixture of emotions so heavy that it feels like you can't handle it. Times when your stomach churns badly but your mind thinks of something good. Times when you feel like tasting a delicious apple even though it was given by a random old woman with a pointy nose, whom every girl knew not to trust, and still wanting it more and more.
Well, it wasn't to that extent, Anna decided, but it was certainly something she didn't want to feel.
The night before had gone really well. She thought it would be a disaster and she'd resent every part of it enough to forget it ever happened but, she didn't. Some moments stood out magnificently.
And for the worst part, she expected those moments to be the times when she was with Elliott alone, but-
"Anna!", Emily sang enthusiastically. "How are you today, my friend? Okay? Good? Grand?"
"What's gotten you so chirpy?", Anna asked dubiously.
"What're you talking about?", Emily asked, grinning. "I'm always this chirpy. As chirpy as the little birds singing outside in this sunny weather."
Anna glanced at the window, checking to see if the weather had suddenly changed in the moment she blinked. She turned to her friend and said flatly,"It's raining."
"Same thing." She waved the matter dismissively and turned to smile at someone.
Suddenly everything became clearer.
Anna widened her eyes at her friend. "No way! Are you kidding me?"
Emily visibly deflated. "Why? How can you not see his cuteness?"
Anna almost choked on her food. "I never thought 24/7 perverted personality could count as cute."
Emily looked at Harvey again, solemnly. "I have a feeling that that is just his facade, you know."
"Facade for what? He doesn't have anything to hide!"
"Why are you being so objective?", Emily asked defensively.
Anna realized that she was, in fact, being quite ridiculous. She hated people who judged a person without knowing them and here she was, being a pure hypocrite.
"Sorry", she said. "I guess I never thought of him like that. I just-I just thought he wasn't boyfriend material?"
"We aren't together", Emily informed.
"Then isn't that worse? I mean, I'm in no way an expert but... you know what? I shouldn't butt in other's feelings with my opinions." Especially when I have problems with my own, she added in her mind.
And that brought her back to the issue at hand. She liked the time on the Ferris wheel more than others. Well it was probably because she liked Ferris wheels, she told herself. But if she happened to ride it again, she wanted to ride with Caleb. They had quite fun.
Atleast she had fun, because it seemed Caleb didn't. He was back to being a quiet, always bored looking guy whose smile was always a smirk. He just became a different person when he was alone. All he acknowledged her presence with was a glance.
Is he going to be like this?, she thought. But did she expect him to start a lovely conversation just because he was forced to sit with her the day before?
But I didn't force him, she reminded herself but thought again. That just means he was being a gentleman then. Accompanying a lone girl to a ride because the person she came with abandoned her.
