Chapter 1
Laila's POV
’come on Matt! Please go in the water with me!’ I begged my brother.
’no, we shouldn't even be here. The hurricane is heading our way so we should really be at home. Look around, no one else was stupid enough to come to the beach on a day like this!’ he yelled back.
I knew it was bad. That was the reason why I wanted to go to the beach, not a shelter. I wanted to get a rush of adrenaline from the fear.
’fine, I'll go in by myself.’ I stomped off into the water.
Mumbling to myself about how stupid my brother was, I noticed a glowing light coming from underneath the surface.
’what is that?’ I asked myself.
’laila please come back in!’ I heard Matt splashing around, getting closer to me and the light.
Once I was right in front of it, I dove under. The salt water burned my eyes but I managed to get through it.
I could hear Matt screaming for me above the surface, but once again I ignored him.
As I swam a good ten feet under, I was finally close enough to see. It was a piece of ice.
What? In the Florida 90 degree waters?
But then I saw what was in it.
A body.
