The Medicine Den - Part 2

There was a high-pitched yowl from outside the Medicine Den. Ashpaw dashed outside to see what was happening, Hazelbreeze right behind her. She burst out through the ivy vines to see her brother, Rainpaw, sprawled on the grass. His leg looked sickly twisted, pointing out at a weird angle. Ashpaw stared in horror as Rainpaw wriggled in agony. Hazelbreeze flew toward the grey pelt, as fast as a rushing river. Cats huddled around the apprentice, poking their heads through. "Get out of the way!" Hazelbreeze screeched. She examined Rainpaw, testing his leg with her paw. Rainpaw yelped as Hazelbreeze pressed down "Can you feel that?" She asked. Her hazel eyes were brimmed with white. Ashpaw's heart was beating out of her chest. Her fur spiked up in fear. She felt like running away into the forest to escape the sounds of her brother.

"Eat these poppy seeds and have some thyme to, it will bring down the shock and help you sleep" Ashpaw nudged the herbs to Rainpaw in his nest. They were in the Medicine Den. Amberfall was on the other side of the den, alseep. Hazelbreeze had gone out to PineClan, trying to learn what to do with Rainpaw's broken leg, leaving Ashpaw alone with the responsibility of taking care of MapleClan. As Rainpaw lapped up the plants, Ashpaw heard a noise from outside. Vinestar's white head poked through the ivy vine. "May I come in?" He asked. Ashpaw nodded. Vinestar's paw steps echoed around the stone walls as he ambled in. He pointed his sharp and defined muzzle towards Rainpaw's resting body. "How is he?" Ashpaw tried to hide her miserable feelings, putting on a fake smile. Rainpaw yelped as he tried to move his leg, Ashpaw flinched.

As Vinestar left, Owlpaw padded into the den. Ashpaw felt a prickle of annoyance at the arrogant tom. He completely ignored her presence as he bent down to talk with his friend in quiet conversation. Ashpaw was contemplating wether to speak or just continue sorting herbs. She wondered when Hazelbreeze was going to come back while she chewed some borage leaves into a pulp for Amberfall. She wrapped the mixture in an ivy leaf and dropped it into Amberfall's nest. "The borage leaves will help your headache" Ashpaw watched him screw up his face as he looked at the pulp "You didn't have to chew it for me" he meowed, but then reluctantly lapped it up.
