Third person pov: When Zach got to Liz's house he turned off his car and got out.
He walked up to her front door and raised his hand to the doorbell. Before he pressed the doorbell, he dropped his hand and walked to the side of the house towards Liz's window.
He looked up at her window then looked down at the stones by her house. He picked up a small stone then threw it at Liz's window like he used to two years ago.
Liz was sitting on her bed looking through her old text messages with Zach was startled when she heard something hit the window. She set her phone down on her bed and got up then walked towards her window.
When she got to the window she noticed it was him. Her heart skipped a beat and she couldn't help, but smile. Then she remembered what happened and her smile disappeared.
She opened the window and stuck her head out. She looked down at Zach, who was looking right up at her.
Zach's heart raced when he saw her and butterflies filled his stomach. He couldn't help, but stare at her. He thought she looked absolutely perfect, but then again he always thought she did.
"What do you want Zach?" Liz hissed.
"I-" Zach started to say, but he paused.
He was starting to think it wasn't a good idea. That Liz probably hated him, so there was no point in trying to talk to her.
"Spit it out, Herron." She said rolling her eyes.
"I just want to talk." He said.
"You're talking right now." She said.
"You know what I mean," He said desperately. "I want to talk about us."
"There is no us." She said.
"There stopped being an us when you walked out of that hospital door." She continued.
"Look I get it I shouldn't of left, but I was scared!" He exclaimed.
"I'm still scared, I don't like the thought of you dying!" He continued.
"I-I don't want you to leave me all alone." He added, slightly stuttering as he felt tears start to well up.
Liz sighed.
"I wouldn't be leaving you all alone," She said. "You'll still have the boys."
He shook his head.
"That's not what I mean." He said.
"There's no one else out there that's like you-" He paused looking down at his feet.
"I don't think I'll ever fall in love again." He stated as tears began to go down his face.
"I can assure you that, you'll be okay and you will get married one day to someone you love." She said.
Zach looked up at her and shook his head as tears still ran down his face.
"I don't want to marry just anyone, I want to marry you!" He cried.
Seeing Zach cry made Liz want to do nothing more than to just hug and kiss him. She wanted things to go back to the way they were two years ago, before she was diagnosed with cancer. She wish she could be the one he would marry, but she knew that wasn't possible.
"You can't marry me, Zach." She said.
"Why not?" He asked.
"Because I'm gonna die." She said.
"I-I know, but I love you." He said.
"I love you too, but that doesn't mean we should get married." She said.
"You're only eighteen, and I'm eighteen and dying." She continued.
"It's just not a good idea." She added.
"Can we at least get back together?" He asked.
She sighed and looked away from him.
He slowly nodded, understanding that there most likely wasn't a way they were getting back together.
"Okay." He said softly and began to walk back to his car.
Liz looked up when she heard him say 'Okay' and saw he was walking back to his car. She didn't want him to leave. She quickly shut the window and ran out of her room and downstairs. She ran to her front door and threw it open. Then she ran towards Zach. She practically tackled him into a hug, which made them fall to the ground.
"Of course, we can get back together." She mumbled.
"But you need to understand that I'm not gonna change my mind about chemo." She added.
Zach wrapped his arms around her waist.
"I understand." He said before he kissed the side of her head.
