Y/N's P.O.V

As we rode off to the city, George's hand on top of mine while he was looking out the window, I started to space off. Why was a feeling something I couldn't place my finger on? It couldn't be grieve! I should be happy to finally leave this place, right?

Right.

We soon reached the main area of the city where the town ball would be taken place. And of course there was a whole God damn parade of people waiting for George. They began to applaud and cheer as soon as he stepped out. When he did step out, he offered me his hand. I smiled as I put my hand is his. He helped me off and we proceeded to walk to the conveniently placed thrones.

As soon as we sat down, music began to play. It wasn't classic music, it was more town music. Commoners music as they called it.

I paid attention to the dancing town folks as they smoothly danced their own dances. Once I got the hang of it, I turned to George. "Hey," I called to get his attention. He looked at me. "Can we get a dance?" I asked as George cocked an eyebrow. "But this is kind of... improper." He answered as he looked at the citizens. "You're the king, you'll get over it." I smirked as I pulled him up. "Y/N! NO." I barked as I chuckled. "Y/N YES!" I answered.

We got on the dance floor and the people were way too busy to even notice we were there. We blended in perfectly! Especially since I convinced George to wear something less...Fancy.

"Y/N, I don't know this dance." He told me with panic in his voice. "Relax. Follow my lead, look at the people around you! You'll get the hang of it." I reassured as I put a hand on his shoulder. He looked around as he simultaneously put an arm around my waist.

We moved around, making multiple mistakes. But soon, he got the hang of it. He even surpassed me. And once he got the hang of it, he started to look at me and smirked. He pulled me closer. "Ey!" I yelped as he pinched my cheek lightly. "You're adorable." He whispered. My heart began to beat against my chest as my cheeks started to become as red as strawberries.

As we wrapped up the dance, it was expected from us to go and sit back on the thrones. But before the applauding had even stopped, George pulled me through the crowd. His head was down, knees a bit bend so he had a lower stature.

"George-" I called with a muted tone. "Shht." He hushed me. So I kept quiet and followed him as he gently held my hand. We went outside the town square and he brought me to a place. It looked like an empty park.

"Yo George, I don't understand why-"

"Can we talk?" He asked as he looked me dead in the eye. Deep inside, I felt that this wouldn't end well.

"Yes of course." I hesitated as he sat down in the grass. I sat down next to him. My dress was now wet caused by the dew drops. "So..." He started as I looked to the ground. "I've been noticing that you've been getting close to me." He continued as I looked at him now. "And I'm not an idiot." He sighed looking to the side.

"I know you're here against your will." He chuckled bitterly and looked at the setting sun which reflect so perfectly in his blue eyes. "Hell, maybe you're just acting nice to get my shield down." He thought out loud. "But I have to say this to you, because I don't want my chest to hurt at night anymore." He finished explaining before looking me in the eyes.

I looked him right in his eyes. We had an intense staring competition, before he finally said:

"I have booked a ship for you, you can go back home tomorrow. I don't want you here to act like you love me." He finished as he turned away. "I'd rather have you gone than have you here living your life in a lie. I love you too much for that." He admitted as my heart stopped beating for a second.

He's letting me go?

Finally! I could be free! I could go back to Alexander, John, Hercules and Lafayette! Back to the battle against Britain! I could be free! This is the best moment of my life!

But then tell me why I feel like I would be unhappy. Tell me why my heart is aching with this feeling I can't sort out. I first thought it wasn't love, but I'm sure that I've been lying to myself all along.

I love him.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and slightly leaned on him.

"I don't want to go." I stated as I felt him tense. "I want to stay here with you." I stated. He turned around, tackled me on the ground and pressed his lips against mine. This time, I felt like we both had passion for each other, that we both had feelings for each other.

As soon as he separated he looked at me, tears in his eyes. "I love you so much." He sobbed as he hugged me. Tears pricking in my eyes, I answered:

"I love you too."
