I was sat on the porch hammock, laying my head on Aaron's shoulder while we waited for the car. It was the first time I had come outside in Goddess knows how many days.
The air outside was heavy and hard to breathe. Each breath I took, felt crushing to my lungs.
Aaron had asked his pack members to limit their interactions with me to simple greetings as I wasn't feeling all too well. Which I was grateful for, I couldn't handle other people's scents in my current state.
I was still showing signs of being sick, carrying little to no memories of what had transpired days before this. I did however retain the memory of Aaron kidnapping me here.
I was also showing no signs of getting better any time soon. It seemed as though my condition worsened with each day that passed.
Our fingers laid intertwined on my lap as he let me scent him to relieve the pain and symptoms of being sick.
Pheromones, I had learnt, had a calming effect on the pain I felt. I wasn't too sure if it was specifically Aaron's pheromones or if any other pheromones would do the job. Aaron was the only one I scented after all.
The trade mark black SUV that Ian's pack usually traveled in pulled up into the pack lands.
Greg was the first person to exit the car. He looked around for me, a soft smile gracing his face as he laid his eyes on me. Aaron loosened his hold on me, letting go to him without much of any fuss.
I didn't have time to ponder on the oddness of that, not when Greg was here. On Aaron's pack grounds.
I slowly walked towards him, flinching with each step I took. Without scenting Aaron to alleviate the pain, walking seemed like hell.
It's true what they say, you miss even the littlest things you take for granted when you lose them. I missed walking with little to no pain.
"Hi." I said, stopping in front of him. A soft smile sat on my face as I peered at him. I couldn't block out my scent as I was too sick. I really hoped he wouldn't cringe away from me.
"Hi." He said with a soft smile, taking my hand in his and pulling me close before he hugged me. I sighed, burying my face in his chest.
He released his pheromones, scenting me. "Put up your barrier." He said, sighing in content as his warm cinnamon scent completely mixed with mine.
"It'll help ease the pain." He added, earning a nod from me. I gently and slowly put up my barrier, any sudden move could cause me to pass out.
Kyle and Ian quietly approached us, keeping in mind to keep their distance. Any negative interference with the scenting could have the opposite desired effects on my state.
"Hey, baby." Kyle said, his tone gentle and soft. See, what I meant by everyone around me babying me? "Hi." I replied, my head laying on Greg's chest still.
"Did you see the pack doctor here? Or would you prefer to see Dr Angela?" Kyle asked, as we made our way to where Aaron was.
Dr Angela was Ian's pack doctor, she was also one of the best doctors in the Deep Waters Valley. She was insanely good at her job, with precision no other doctor in the land had.
"No, I will be fine. I think." I said, shaking my head. Greg let me go as we stood by Aaron, smiling gently at me.
"Aaron." Ian said, his tone hard and stern. Greg told him that Aaron had kidnapped me, he must have. Otherwise he had no other reason to be that angry.
