(Gotta say, this isn't turning out to be too bad! Hopefully this'll continue to be good. And this is where we introduce two lovely ladies who'll be here from now on. Above is a pic of Jess in her civilian clothes.)

Pain laced his neck and wrist bones as Sans awoke to a bright light above him. He groaned as his eye sockets opened to see only whiteness. As the skeleton waited for his eye lighta to adjust, a voice spoke from somewhere behind him.

"You woke up! Finally, I was getting worried little blue." Sans turned his head and squinted to see a woman with long bown hair in a braid wearing a worn and torn lab coat on the other side of a set of bars. Bright yellow glasses framed her eyes, a kind smile graced her lips, and her bangs held back by a clip in the shape of a golden four-pointed star.

"I know you might not be able to speak in my language, but that's fine. I'm pretty sure you can understand what I'm saying... Can you nod if you understand me?" Sans narrowed his eyes and tried speaking, but when all that came out was a soft wheeze, he nodded slowly. The woman sighed in relief. why can't i talk?

"Thank goodness! I was afraid that you couldn't for a moment. I'm Jess, and I'll be the one in charge of making sure you, uh, stay alive and healthy." Sans huffed and checked his surroundings. He was in a cage, all four sides and the roof made of thick, silver metal that radiated a dim violet light. The room appeared empty save for the cage and a small table in the corner to the right of the door. Above him a blaring spotlight illuminated every corner of the cage while below a sheet of the same metal as the bars but without the glow held him up. Sans jumped a couple of times, noticing how the metal gave under him, if only just.

"Oh, you're testing out your new home. I'll leave you to it then. See you in a few hours...wait... uh, do skeletons eat?" Jess asked.

Sans nodded, then shook his head, might be  for the best, easier this way.

Jess looked at Sans for a moment, "I have no clue what that means... Maybe Doc'll have some kind of notes on what to feed you and the other skeleton." At the mention of another skeleton, Sans shot forward and gripped the bars, ignoring the sting on his hands. Jess jumped back with a little squeal, "Whoah! Okay, that's a thing that happened... do you know the other skeleton Doc found you with? He's been all hush-hush about you two." Sans nodded quickly. Jess smiled, "I'll see what I can do about getting you two together, it might take a little bit to get the Hub set up for your meets. I'll be back in a few hours with some food for you, bye little blue." Sans wasn't too fond of the name "little blue", but figured that not talking would prevent any questioning the humans would have for him.

Sans bounced a couple of times and did some quick calculations, finally deciding that there was practically no way to break the base of the cage he was in. Looking at his wrist revealed a thinish band of black metal with a glowing cyan panel. Upon trying to move it, Sans was shocked to find it was practically fused to his bones, both literally and figuratively. Needless to say, he didn't try that again. Rapping his phalanges against the bars, Sans immediately felt an even greater absence of magic. figures, he thought as the short skeleton backed away from the bars.

Back in the underground, when the human with the Perseverance SOUL came through, magical attacks didn't work on him. It was purely by accident that he died; the kid tripped and ended up falling off a relatively short cliff into the garbage dump where he bled out from landing on a brand new set of Ginsu knives.

Talk about bad luck.

Fortunately, monsters had been following him with SOUL jars and were able to nab it before it disappeared. Alphys had studied it closely and discovered that purple magic could cancel out all other forms of magic, except for magic of the same color, something scientists prior never seemed to figure out oddly enough. Sans checked the room again, this time reaching through the bars to feel around below the cage. Four poles of magic-sucking metal held it above the ground, and a small tray sat under the cage for who knew what.
