Toledo, the glass city, wasn't the biggest of places. However it was bigger than her home town of Riverdale. Riverdale was where her dad was. Riverdale was where her brother was. Five years ago her mother whisked her away in her sleep. Her name was Forsythia, Jellybean to her family. She wanted nothing more than to escape. She lived with her mother and grandparents. She wished she didn't live with them though. Her grandfather sexually assaulted her, and did so for many years. She was ten years old now. Five years of constant abuse. Five years of misery. She tolled her mother, who laughed in her face.

"Stop seeking attention." She would scowl. "He would never do that." Jellybean tried telling her grandmother as well.

"Shut up." Her grandmother would hiss. "No such thing happened." Jellybean felt helpless. There was nothing she could think of. When her grandfather came again, for his pleasure, Jellybean wished she was anywhere but there. When he finally left her, she knew what she had to do. She picked up the phone, and dialled her father.

"Hey JB!" FP said happily on the other end. "How are things going?"

"I need you to come and get me." She sobbed.

"What? Why?" He said in a panicked tone.

"Please just come." She whispered.

"I'll see you tonight. Don't tell your mother, pack a bag. I'll take you back to Riverdale." He whispered to her. She felt an overwhelming sense of excitement fill her body. She ran to her room and began to chuck her things into a bag. It was 12 pm on a Saturday. Her mum was working. Her grandmother was at a market, and her grandfather was god knows where. She was alone. Her bag was packed and she hid it under her bed. She spent the rest of the day watching the clock and sitting in front of the TV. Gradually, her grandmother, grandfather, and mother arrived home, rather late so they had toasted sandwiches. At 8 pm, she was told to go to bed. She changed out of her pyjamas, and put on jeans and a t-shirt, and sat on her bed. After what felt like forever, even though it was only half an hour, she saw her father appear at her window. She opened the window and her father came in. Jellybean squeezed him tight.

"Are you okay?" He asked her, remembering the phone call he had with her earlier. Jellyban shook her head. FP nodded, and scribbled a quick note and placed it on her bed.

"Have you packed?" He whispered to her, and she nodded. "Okay, then let's go." Jellybean grabbed her things and followed her father out of the window. They closed it, and sneaked past the house. When she finally got to her father's truck, she was happy. She knew she'd be free, safe, and happy. She sat in the front seat, and closed her eyes.
