Today, I'm seven thousand miles away...

xxx

I heard my name being called from a distance, but I ignored it; I wanted to keep embracing the comfortable darkness I was sitting in at the moment. Unfortunately, when you're in a band like mine, you can't get what you want 99.9% of the time.

"Ashton!"

The sound of my name being called became closer and closer.

"Dude, he's not gonna wake up. Let's just leave him on the plane and see where he ends up."

"Michael, that's heartless."

"So?"

"Ashton!"

With a groan, I left the comfortable darkness of my light sleep to see two of my best friends staring down at me.

"Hey, mate!" My quiffed friend greeted with a childish smile.

"Good going, Luke. I was looking forward to seeing him fly across the world alone." My extremely green-haired friend faked a scowl next to him.

"Oh, shut up. You know you can't survive without me." I got up from my seat with a chuckle and grabbed my carry-on. "Where's Calum?" I asked, taking a quick glance around the plane.

"He's waiting at baggage claim like a good little Asian," Michael responded with a smirk as he ran a few fingers through his colored hair. "Don't tell him I called him Asian," he added after a few moments of silence.

"No promises." I lightly punched him on the shoulder and shuffled out of the plane. Before I knew it, we were all gathered in a small circle in front of baggage claim (after meeting some fans, of course).

"We need to make a few changes to our set list," Calum spoke quickly, pulling out his phone from his pocket to examine options. Michael groaned from next to me. "You do realize that an airport might not be the best idea to make a set list change, right? We have a perfectly fine hotel to settle in, mate."

"Right, my bad," Calum apologized and slid his phone back into his pocket. "Off to the hotel?"

"Onward!" Michael shouted before grabbing his bags and marching out the doors.

"We should probably catch up to our little woodland fairy," I said, laughing at the unique nickname I made up on the spot.

"Nice one," Calum chuckled and gave me a quick pat on the back before exiting as well.

"I have dibs on not rooming with Luke," Michael declared as we entered our joint hotel room. A pout appeared on Luke's lips as he entered shortly after Michael. "Am I really that bad to room with?" he asked.

Michael practically tossed his bags on the floor before turning to Luke and responding with a quick, "Fuck, yes. You steal my underwear, you talk so much in your sleep, and you steal my food. I need a break from you."

Almost immediately a small argument surfaced between the two. Calum and I exchanged the "what're we gonna do with them" glance quickly before we shushed the two.

"Okay, let's discuss some more important things, like, I don't know, the set list," I said as I sat myself down right in the middle of the floor. "Any ideas?"

"Well obviously Don't Stop and She Looks So Perfect...and Heartbreak Girl and Try Hard and-"

Before Michael could finish listing off songs, Luke abruptly cut him off. "This is Five Seconds of Summer's set list, not Michael Clifford's set list."

"I'm gonna kick your ass in about ten seconds."

"We could add in Greenlight, we haven't really done that in awhile," I suggested. Calum nodded in agreement. "And Rejects?"

"Hell yeah," Michael chimed in.

"The fam really likes English Love Affair, maybe we could add that in?" Calum added another suggestion. I fidgeted uncomfortably in my spot on the floor while Luke and Michael enthusiastically agreed to the suggestion.

Calum looked down at me from where he was standing. "Ash? You okay with that?" After a few moments of sitting in silence, I nodded. "Yeah, man. Sounds good."

Ten minutes passed and we had finally agreed on a set list for our wonderful headlining tour.

"Good work, lads," Michael gave us all satisfied nods. "Now, I'm gonna sleep for a few years, wake me up when there's good food." With that being said, he grabbed his scattered bags and dragged them into the empty room jointed to this one.

"Damn," Calum muttered after a few minutes as he massaged his temples. "This damn jetlag is hitting too early. I guess that's its way of saying, 'Welcome to America, fuck you'".

"Well then go sleep it off, I won't judge you," I said with one of my signature school girl giggles.

"Good idea, I'm gonna go join Michael. Don't miss me too much."

"Don't let the bed bugs bite, Cal Cal," Luke chirped.

Calum playfully rolled his eyes. "I'm nineteen years old and sexy, I don't think bed bugs really like sexy nineteen year-olds. I think they'd rather chomp on some lanky and quiffed nineteen year-old's ass." He skipped into the other room with his bags before Luke could even react.

"He's a sweetheart," I said as I stood up and flopped onto one of the two small beds in the room.

"He's an asshole," Luke corrected me. He mimicked my actions and flopped onto his own bed. "I'm tired," he huffed.

"You're whiny," I corrected him with a laugh.

"Shut up, I hate this band," Luke groaned. He grabbed a pillow and put it over his face, letting out an annoyed groan. "I'm hungry."

"Oh my god, I think I fully understand why Michael hates rooming with you," I groaned and ran a few fingers through my soft brown hair.

"I hate you," Luke complained and flipped onto his stomach. "My back hurts."

Before I could let Luke complain about one more issue, I chucked a pillow at him, hitting him square in the side of the face.

"Ashton!" He scrambled to sit up, and once he got comfortable in his sitting position, he crossed his arms over his broad chest and gave me a pout. "You're a dick."

"You complain too much, oops," I retorted, biting back a laugh.

"No I don't!"

"It's the jetlag, simmer down, young boy."

"I'm nineteen, I most certainly am not a young boy."

"Think what you want."

Luke rolled his blue eyes and laid back down. Within a few short moments I could hear him softly snoring, also muttering a few random things here and there. I let my eyes travel up to the ceiling, where they stayed content for a long time.

English Love Affair, huh?

I drummed my fingers gently onto the bed as I recollected the events of May, exactly  two months ago.

I wonder how she's doing.
