Shay closed her eyes as various food items hit her. She felt a tomato splat against her face and she opened her eyes in shock. These little twits were actually throwing food at her. She couldn't help but think of the scene in Boys over Flowers were the students surrounded Jandi and tormented her because everyone thought she had cheated on Jun Pyo.
"You should go back home. You should never have come here." Various girls were yelling as they threw more food. Shay looked frantically around her to see if she could get to somewhere safe and saw that Jae Wook and Chae Young were also surrounded. The other members of the team were trying to keep Jae Wook safe as he was surrounded by a bigger crowd of girls screaming and pushing to get to him. The only person that could get to her was her cameraman and he was trying to keep his camera from getting destroyed. Shay couldn't blame him. These teenagers were vicious and they were getting louder.
"You shameless woman. Coming here to take what belongs to us." Shay could not believe what she was hearing. She wasn't taking anything from anyone. This was unbelievable. Shay wanted to defend herself but she knew with this many angry teenagers, that just wasn't going to happen. Nobody wanted to listen to her.
"SHAY!" Jae Wook's voice cried over the noise and commotion. She looked over at him and gave him a helpless look of "What do we do now?" He couldn't get past these kids and Chae Young was holding onto him in terror. His manager was trying to clear a way for them to get free so they could leave but it was getting out of hand. Jae Wook tried to protect Chae Young so she wouldn't get hurt which just seemed to increase the commotion around them.
Chae Young couldn't be happier. This was going better than she could have ever imagined. She wanted to crow with delight but she had to make sure that Jae Wook didn't go running off to help Shay. Chae Young whimpered and acted scared so Jae Wook couldn't leave her. She was enjoying him holding her hand while she hung on his arm. As a bonus, she got to watch the scarred hag getting taught the lesson she so richly deserved.
What had started as a few girls throwing things at her, started to morph into a dozen girls assaulting her and then more started to crowd in. This was getting dangerous now.
Merchants, alarmed at the crowd and the potential for having their wares destroyed started to yell at the kids and tried to drive them off.
"You kids need to stop this. This is not right to disturb everyone." One ahjumma scolded.
"This shameless woman needs to be taught a lesson." One girl yelled defiantly while others continued to yell insults at Shay.
This was getting out of hand, Shay thought. She wanted to reason with these kids like the girls in the shop, but clearly, they weren't interested in listening. What was wrong with these kids, anyway? She hadn't done anything to get them all worked up like this.
"You can't steal Jae Wook from us. We loved him first. He belongs to us." One girl yelled and then proceeded to throw eggs at Shay.
Oh for the love of.... Shay thought. She wasn't even dating Jae Wook but these kids totally got some mistaken impression that they were. Where was this coming from? The eggs were sticking to her clothes and Shay was getting tired of getting hit with food. As she tried to block from getting a direct hit to the face someone pushed her to the ground. Shay fell back and felt her hands scrape against the sidewalk. She felt the sting and her face was left exposed which the teenagers took advantage of and pelted her with more eggs.
"That is ENOUGH!" Shay heard Jae Wook yell. This startled the girls enough that the merchants could help Shay and blocked the kids enough so she could stand up. Shielded from the angry teenagers, a hand grabbed Shay's and pulled her away from the attack. Shay began running and the girls screamed and started to give chase. Shay was too busy running, avoiding merchandise and thrown food to figure out who was pulling her along. Whoever it was, they knew exactly how to navigate the market. Shay was too distracted with the screaming teenagers behind her to worry about it. They were trying to keep up, and while their young legs were faster, her hero was more skilled and knew where to duck and move through the maze of streets and alleys of the market.
In all the hurry, Shay could only tell that her hero was male, but his hat and facemask kept her from knowing who he was. Suddenly, her rescuer pulled her to the right and they ran down a tiny alley and then he pulled her behind a huge poster and into a small store. They moved into a dark corner behind a stand full of shirts as the teen girls came yelling down the alley. An older man walked out of the store and yelled at the girls to stop scaring off the customers. One girl tried to stand up to the older man and the other merchants got together and chased the girls off.
Shay closed her eyes and tried to catch her breath. Safe for now she looked into the face of her rescuer as he removed his mask and her breath caught.... Min Woo!!

Jae Wook was alarmed when he saw Shay get pushed to the ground and disappear in a sea of merchants and angry fans. Frustrated because there was literally nothing he could do. He looked at the screaming girls surrounding him and for the first time ever, let them see his anger.
"That is ENOUGH!" He yelled. This startled the girls enough that the merchants could help Shay stand back up. Before Jae Wook could do anything else, he saw a man, in a hat and facemask, come up behind the crowd and zero in on Shay. He quickly looked at Jae Wook and nodded his head. He then grabbed Shay's hand and took off with her. The girls were at first startled that Shay was running but a few of the angrier fans took off after the running pair.
This allowed his manager and other members of the crew to break the fans up and get around Jae Wook and Chae Young to get them out of there. It took a bit of a walk but eventually, they were able to get to where they could get into a waiting van. While the fans crowded around the van, Jae Wook got Chae Young in first and then closed the door so he could handle the requests for autographs and pictures. He wasn't super warm about it, but the fans got enough that he could finally disengage from them and get into the van.
On the outside, Chae Young gave the appearance of a young fan upset about all the commotion. Inside, she was ecstatic. Shay got taught a lesson and now she was here with Jae Wook, in the car, all by herself. There were still cameras in the car so she had to be careful, but she'd been waiting for an opportunity like this and it was now all hers. She dropped a few tears as Jae Wook sat down and he handed her a handkerchief.
"Here, it's going to be okay now. I'm sorry about that. Are you okay?" He asked in a worried tone.
"I'm fine. It was a little more excitement than I thought I'd have today, though," she said.
"The whole day was ruined. This was supposed to be about showing Shay around Korea. She really wanted to spend time with you." He said.
"I was surprised when she asked me. Most people avoid me because I am mad a lot. But Shay has always been kind to me. Even when I would sit and scowl at her all day. She'd always have a smile for me. Why did they do that? She wasn't doing anything to them." Chae Young squeezed out a few more tears.
"I'm not sure what set everyone off. There have been some mean rumors going around and that might have caused this. But, I'm not sure." He said. The van door opened and Jae Wook's manager and some of the film crew got in.
"We got word that Shay is safe now. She'll be taken back to the house by another way. We can go home, now." Jae Wook's manager said.
Chae Young cast her face downward and looked as dejected as she could. "But we didn't get to do anything fun, yet," she said quietly.
The manager looked like he was about to yell at the girl but Jae Wook interrupted him, "I think we can go find someplace to eat that would satisfy everyone."
Chae Young looked up in surprise and a smile broke out on her face. Her man was the best!

Authors note: I've mentioned before how this is my first attempt at a novel, and I honestly never thought I'd get this far. However, this section of the story has been the most difficult to write. How much do I have Shay attacked? How does she get free? What happens to Jae Wook and Chae Young? How does this scene facilitate the things I need to happen to get where we are headed? In the last two weeks, these next couple of chapters have changed and changed countless times. I will say this, Chapter 16 will be posting later today, so you get two chapters this week. I hope you guys have fun with this.
