After the kiss ended, they separated and walked into the cabin. Across the table were the notes Shay had been making about what they knew and what they still needed to find out. Min Woo sat with Shay at the table to bring her up to date on his private investigations.
"I'm sure Jung Min is hiding Chae YOung, but I can't think of where." Min Woo said. "I've checked all the places I know of where she liked to take off to."
"You can't know everything about her." Shay said, "She clearly has been hiding how she really feels for a long time."
"I just feel guilty about all this," He said.
"This is not either you or Jae Wook's fault. You are not responsible for another person's obsession." Shay said as she took Min Woo's hand. "Both Chae Young and Jung Min are troubled people. Look how fast Chae Young's parents disowned her. That poor girl has been so desperate for love and Jae Wook was just the first person that gave her some acceptance."
"Jung Min has sacrificed much of her personal wants for her sister. When we were growing up, she never put her needs first. It was always what I or Jae Min wanted." Min Woo said after some thought.
"If we address those needs, we might be able to stop all this," Shay suggested.
"That doesn't change that Chae Young tried to kill you and Jung Min helped her." Min Woo said angrily.
"I know, but as angry as I am that I was attacked, I don't see them as bad people. Just very hurt people." Shay countered.
"I think we'll have to confront Jung Min directly if we are to end this." Min Woo said.
"She has covered her tracks well. You've spent all week checking on her and got nowhere," she said. Then she had an idea.
"What do you think they would do if they knew I was still in Korea?" she asked.
"NO!" Min Woo almost shouted. "I won't put you in danger!" He pulled her into his arms as if to block the idea.
"We have to draw them out," Shay said, her voice muffled against his body.
"I almost lost you once, Shay. I can't go through that again." Min Woo said.
"I will find a way to get her to confess. We were childhood best friends and I'm sure I can play on those loyalties. You will stay here where you are safe.' Min Woo continued holding her close.
"I'm done with being scared, Min Woo." Shay pulled away to look at him as she talked, " I was very scared of crazy fan reactions when I discovered you all living in that house. But you know what? I have had more crazy than anyone can expect and I survived. I'm alive and I love you and nobody is going to make me leave you."
Hearing her say those words touched Min Woo deeply. Feeling like his heart would burst, he couldn't help but kiss her passionately. As he crushed his lips to hers, this was why he loved her so much. She was brave and strong. She didn't back down from what she wanted. She was only hiding in this cabin because Min Woo had begged her to give him time to confront Jung Min.
Shay was distracted by MIn Woo's kiss but she was done hiding away to make him happy. She was surprised by how angry she had been over the attack. Never again was she going to be scared of someone else's opinion.
The kiss went on for several minutes until both of them were breathless. Pausing to catch their breath, they could feel each other's hearts beating furiously.
Min Woo pulled Shay out of his lap and gestured for her to stay still, "Wait just a minute."
He then left and went out to his car. He returned holding a small box. Shay gasped when she saw it. Min Woo walked towards her watching her eyes fill with surprise.
