Chapter 3:
(Hannah's POV)
Two minutes. A full two minutes of silence. Eli kept staring at me and my leg feels like its going to fall off.
"Hannah just answer the question."
Ok he asked for it. When all else fails, who you gonna call?
"Nico!" I shout.
"Wha-" Eli starts to say as Nico jumps from the bushes and onto Eli.
Nico looks around and notices me. As she runs over, Eli chases her. Wow. He must really want answers. Hauling myself up off the ground I finally reach my blaster. Daya jumps in and and gives me a little nod. Knowing that she can keep up multiple illusions, I fire my slug at Eli. When Daya hit full velocity she transforms and makes ten fake Nicos. I know the right one though. I snap my fingers and Nico gets the message. She loads me onto her back and starts to run away.
"Hey! Come back here!"
Oh no. I hear the sound of a slug transforming and before I can blink, a fire wall surrounds me. Frantically, I look for any kind of exit. Nope, zip, nada.
"Answer my question," Eli shouts through the fire.
It's too dangerous to reply to him. I really want to get my secret off my chest but I know if I do all my progress is nothing. With a sigh I decide to do something crazy. Jump through the fire. Yup.
"Never in a million years Shane!" I scream.
I back Nico up and start charging at the wall. When we're about two feet away I feel us leave the ground. I tuck my head in as I feel the heat of the fire claw at me. I feel something hit my shoulder but my adrenaline is to high to think anything of it. Since it stings through my high energy, I know it's probably going to leave a mark.
"Hannah what are you doing?!"
Since I can't talk, I say nothing back. I feel the heat leave and I look up slowly. We did it. We made it out. I check my slugs and do a head count. Yup all here.
"Hannah come back!" Eli yells.
When we come to a cliff, Nico starts scaling the walls. About halfway up my adrenaline starts to fade and I start to feel the effects of the fall and the fire. I take a look at myself and gasp. My shoulder has a deep gash in it, my suit is charred and my leg looks dislocated. Slowly I feel myself start to drift off. But just before a black out I remember something. The Slug Run... Blakk will be ticked.
