Love's Cycle.

Life is bittersweet. You love. You lose. You build. You break.

Life will always be that way. No matter how much you try to change it. It's an unbreakable cycle. So I avoid the cycle. I avoid love. You can't get broken if you were never fixed. You can't become sad if you were never happy.

Now don't take me for some pessimistic lonely girl, because I'm not. I simply understand the way life works, and this blind date tonight won't change it. Of course, I didn't tell Amy that. I stayed silent on the drive to the restaurant, knowing that even one complaint will lead to an endless amount from her.

Amy was always the determined type and would not take no for an answer. When I told her I would not be going on the blind date she picked out my outfit and started doing my hair. She said I would have a great time. I couldn't wait to prove her wrong.

Amy parked the car and I got out, already dreading the night ahead of me.

"Trust me," Amy said, "You'll find love tonight"

I chuckled and rolled my eyes at her statement, knowing that she was only half joking. Sometimes, she's too hopeful.

As we walked through the parking lot, I looked up at the building in front of me. It was fairly big, with lights illuminating it from all directions.

"Who's paying for this?" I asked Amy.

"Hopefully him. Wouldn't be a true gentleman if he didn't."

I looked up at the place again, taking in how extravagant it looks. "Well," I said, "I hope he brought his wallet."

"Make that two wallets," she joked.

When we arrived at the door, I self consciously pulled down the short black dress I was wearing.

Amy saw this and rolled her eyes. "Oh come on Mo! It's not that short!"

"Do you count bikini bottoms as long?" I retorted.

"He'll love it. Trust me."

I sighed and walked into the restaurant, not waiting for her to follow. A waitress came up to us and offered us a table.

When we were seated, I looked around. Definitely not a cheap place. It was obvious from the way the guests are dressed to the way they had more cutlery on the table then I have in my own house. We waited a few minutes for him to arrive. Then ten minutes. Then half an hour. When 40 minutes rolled around I started to get anxious. I honestly could not have cared less that he hadn't shown up yet. I was worried that the place would charge us more for the wait. I wouldn't be surprised if the place charged you for breathing.

I looked over at Amy who looked like she's ready to punch someone in the face.

"He said he would be here," she mumbled, "he said he would be on time."

Suddenly, the bell on the door rang and in walked a man. I turned my head to Amy and sighed.

"Are you kidding me?" I asked.

"No?" she responded nervously.

"I can't believe you."

"He's changed, I swear!" she exclaimed.

"He's your ex, Amy! This is the same guy who broke your heart. I had to force feed you for weeks after he broke up with you!"

"I-"

Before she could finish, he came and sat down beside us.

"I'll leave you two alone," she said, running out of the restaurant.
