Jinx's POV:

"This is it." Kid Flash said nudging my arm.

My attention was drawn away from the neighboring abandoned buildings and onto the one looming directly in front of us.

"How can you tell this is the right-" My answer came in the form of light from the top most floor. There was something very familiar about that ember green light.

"C'mon that's got to be Starfire!" Kidflash voiced what I was just thinking.

In the blink of an eye I was lifted onto Kid Flash's back and he was running at lighting fast speed. We traveled through the front doors and up the stairs in less than a second.

We came to a sudden stop in front of an old door. The brown paint was chipped from age. Green pulsating light appeared from underneath it.

"It's quiet... too quiet." I whispered as Kid Flash inspected the empty hallway.

"Well there doesn't seem to be anyone here." He cautiously gripped the door knob and slowly twisted it open.

We stepped into a room that was bathed in light the color of Starfire's starbolts. Machines and scientific tools were scattered around the place.

"Oh no..." a gasp escaped my lips.

Across the room in a giant tank of fluid floated the radiant alien. Her emerald eyes were open and gleaming but she was not blinking. She was unconscious.

We made our way past bizarre test tubes full of foul smelling liquids and reached her. Tubes were attached all across her tan body. The smaller ones being centered around her temples.

I instinctively placed my hand on the cool glass and I could feel the unlucky magic surging forward from within me.  With one movement I could break this glass and set her free.

"Wait." Kid Flash placed his hand on top of mine.

I snapped out of my thoughts and looked up at him. His eyes softened as I moved my hand away from the glass.

"We need to figure out a way to shut this thing down without destroying it. Those tubes connecting to her head," he said pointing at Starfire, "are probably interfering with her brain. We can't risk causing any more damage to her system than what these freaks already caused her."

"Yeah you're right. I'm sorry." I said looking down at my black boots.

"Don't be." he said cupping my chin in his warm hands. "I know how much you want to save her. You don't want to disappoint Robin."

"No, it's much more than that..."

"What do you mean?" Confusion was written on his handsome face.

"I-I see how much Robin cares about her. His feelings towards her are so strong and quite frankly it's a bit frightening... He is willing to do anything to bring her back and part of me understands. I understand because that's how I feel about y-you. My life has been so much better since we met you know."

I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks. The tips of his ears were staring to redden too. Suddenly he stepped forward and wrapped his hands around my waist bringing me closer to him.
