~ Chapter Two ~
"Jackass," Davey mutters as I close the door after Donny leaves. I sigh once more, that's twice in the past ten seconds, then turn to face my best friend in the whole world. He drops the shoe he was going to use to kill that freaky spider and trudges over to the bed.
Trying to smile encouragingly I join him on his bed once more. His brother always gets him down, one reason I can't stand stupid, old Donny. Not to mention he's perverted, annoying, and a basic class A d-bag most of the time. Even if he does have nice abs. Which I just noticed, not three minutes ago.
"Don't let him get to you," I say still with the smile and he looks up at me, smiling, too.
"I'm not, he just, pisses the hell out of me. You know this," and I laugh, nodding in agreement.
Oh, I do know this. I've known these dueling brothers since I was little and yes, they do not get along. Well, most of the time really, but they have their moments- which I make sure to always make fun of and bring up on random occasions.
I know Donny isn't a complete jerk and he really can be a nice guy! But for some unknown reason he just doesn't act that way all the time. Maybe I'm being stupid defending him, I mean he could just be a real jerk and that's just how it is- like Davey says- but can I help that I maybe, like him? And since I like him, well, I just don't want to or I guess more like I can't accept that.
Yeah, I admit it, I like Donny. My best friend's brother, yup. How cliche of me, right? Well it's not like I can help it! He used to be so nice, funny, and sweet! He'd shower me with compliments and always make me laugh. There were obvious sparks, or at least, I always thought so.
Then I realized there was a whole year between us and that in reality, I was just his little brothers buck-toothed best friend. Sure when we were young, we got along. Then when middle and high school came, I had more competition then I knew what to do with. Actually, it's more like I wasn't even in the competition at all.
I'm just a silly little girl. That's the conclusion I came to the moment I found out Donny brought home a girl and she slept over. And I mean "slept" in the loosest of terms. Davey told me the day after and I swear, my heart basically shattered. From then on, I knew I had no shot with him and then I started noticing just how mean he was to me anyway. I was stupid to even like this guy- he was a jerk! So I tried to hold onto that feeling; the hate or anger or whatever it was.
Sadly, it wasn't enough. So, deciding to become a self-hired actress, I pretended to hate his guts. I still pretend, to this day, no matter how much it sucks. Thing is, it wasn't enough to just pretend I didn't like him. See, even if I love the guy, I'm still angry at him for breaking my heart. So, to get "even" sort of, I got myself a boyfriend. No, I'm not just using the guy! Since I have no chance with Donny anyway, I do actually like this guy. His name is Chandler.
He's cute, funny, sweet, hot, and all that good stuff. We get along great, when we're together we can't keep our eyes off each other- or our hands sometimes- and seriously, I may be falling for him. At this point, my stupid feelings for Donny haven't really been diminished, but they're definitely pushed to the side enough to be mostly out of view. It's more like, it started out as just a way to get back at Donny, but now it's grown into like, a real thing.
Actually what Davey and I were just talking about is about Chandler. Before that silly spider interrupted our conversation that is.
"Like I was saying," Davey picks up right where we left off, "I think you're being stupid."
"Gee, way to spare my feelings," I say sarcastically. He just shakes his head and waves me off, not caring about my feelings- that actually weren't really hurt anyway.
