CHAPTER 8: I WANNA BE WITH YOU

Scarletts POV:

It’s almost night time and i’m still in the hospital. The nurse told me if she could contact a family member and I told her I would just call. I dialed Shane’s number and he finally picked up. 

“Scarlet, i’m loosing time here. Mom keeps asking where you are. Are you comming home? I miss you.” I miss him too.

“Listen Shane. I’m in the hospital. It’s fine I just have a concussion. Tell mom I had to stay at Becca’s again because.. oh I don’t know. Uhh, tell her we aren’t done with the school project.” 

He got quite and shuddered. “A-are you alright? What happened.” I told him the whole story and I can tell his protective side was coming out. I told him to hold on a second when Niall walked in the room holding a tray of food. “Niall, can I send a car for my brother tomorrow? I really would like to see him since I can’t get out of this bed until tomorrow.” Niall shook his head yes. 

“I will send a car for you tomorrow morning, Shane. Skip school it will be alright. Okay?” He agreed and we both hung up. Niall sat there with his eyes glued on his food tray. He looked up at me and started laughing, the expression on my face must have been priceless because he just got one tray for himself and not one for me. He looked down at the plate and came over to the bed. He tugged me over so he could lay with me. What I could see that he had was a grinder and some chips.

“Hey! I forgot the boys are all comming tomorrow to see you too. They wanted to come today so badly but i told them not to because you needed rest. I kind of think they miss you!” I smiled at that. It’s sweet they care for me. I think he saw me eyeing his chips because he asked “D-d-do you want some?” I smiled because I knew that was hard for him to ask. I said no because I knew that he loved his food. I wasn’t hungry anyway. All I could think about is that we have to spend our time together in this stupid hospital. I wanted to be with him doing other things like walking around time square, or taking every cab we see until we find the cash cab (that used to be my favorite show.) 

So instead of sleeping I told him I wanted to play have you ever. He asked the first one. 

“Have you ever, had a boyfriend.” I smiled uncontrollably. 

“Niall!” I hit him on the arm playfully. “This is so embarrassing!” He laughed but went silent so I could tell him my answer. “I have never had a boyfriend before you.” He looked puzzled.“Why not? You’re perfect.” He demanded.

“I’m the loser of school. Who would want to date me if I was the loser. I don’t buy expensive clothes like everyone else.. I don’t stay on the computer all day and facebook or tweet. I play with my guitar and I hang out with my brother. I don’t know why anyone would think I was a loser. I’m normal. I bet none of the guys at my school would see that. All they care about is sex and partying.” 

“All of those people are wrong about you.” He said. “You are the most fascinating girl I have ever met in my life. And to be honest, I never usually fall for girls. I don’t like relationships. But you, I just had to have you. You aren’t like other girls. If I could pick for everyone, you’d be the most popular girl in school.” I blushed so hard that he put his hands on my cheeks. “You do blush all the time. I find that extremely cute.”

“My turn!” I said. “Now I think it’s time to get a little deeper. Have you ever done anything with a girl more than making out.”  He was caught off guard by my question. 

He looked down at his hands and started fiddling his thumbs. He looked up and said “I’m not a virgin, Scar. I-I-I just feel so ashamed saying that. But I also have a past.”

He paused for a moment and went on. “When I was in 5th grade, I had a step mom. One night my dad stepped out to do a few things around town and she drugged me. I didn’t feel anything. My body was numb. I can see her, I can still see her burned into my eyelids when I shut them because i’ll never get over that moment. The therapy I needed was way to much to handle as a 5th grader.” He looked up.“You know, you’re the only person I have told besides my dad. I haven’t even told the boys yet.” I hugged him and took his cheeks in my hands. 

“You are perfect for me, Horan. I won’t let you down.” He looked so serious all of a sudden. He put his arms around me, while his hand slipped down my back. He came close to me and I could feel his breathing on my lips. He leaned in and kissed me like the world depended on it. He was forceful and I can taste the mint on his tongue. This time he kissed me it was something special. He really did make me feel like I could fly. That’s what love feels like when you know you found the right person.

NIALL’S P.O.V:

I woke up early this morning. I woke up to Scar laying across my chest while we were both cramped in the little hospital bed. She was still sleeping because I could hear her snoring. The nurse came in and whispered in my ear. “She has visitors. 5 of them.” Her brother must be here too. I told the nurse to let them all in. She shook her head and went to go fetch all of ‘em. 

The first one to walk in was what looked like Scars brother Shane. He looks so similar to her. The features were so alike it was incredible. I took my free arm as he came over to the bed and reached it out for him to shake. We shook hands and he said hello, I introduced myself and he asked how Scar was. I told him what happened and how she was hurt and he started laughing. “I knew this would happen, Niall. I just didn’t think it would be over being your girlfriend. I really thought she would have gotten trampled because she herself was the super star.” I understood what he meant. He wanted her to be famous for other reasons..

The other lads just sat down on the cot on the other side of the room with flowers in each one of there hands except Louis. He has a stuffed bear. He was such a softy sometimes it makes me laugh. I felt her stir and finally yawn. She was waking up, finally. I could slip out to get some food and tea. She opened her eyes wide when she saw her brother standing by her side. She pulled the covers off as quick as she could and hugged him like she hasn’t seen him in years. “SHANE, I MISSED YOU. EVEN THOUGH IT’S ONLY BEEN 2 DAYS!” I guess they never leave each other. They were really close like that. She looked across the room and saw the boys with all of there gifts. She laughed and walked over to them with the iv still attached to her arm. She hugged every one of them and thanked them. “You guys didn’t have to come down to the hospital to see me! I’m getting out today anyway!” Zayn spoke up first, “Scarlet, we can’t not! You are part of us. We always are there when you need it.” He put his hand on her head and messed up her hair a little bit then came over to me. “You want to get some food Niall, I can tell your hungry.” And he guessed right. We slipped out of the room and walked down to the cafeteria. 

Zayn addressed me that we only had 4 more days left in New York City. “Zayn, what do I do. She obviously can’t come on tour. She has school and her brother..” My eyebrows felt like they were knitted together and they couldn’t come undone. Zayn said “Niall, you gotta do whats best man. You gotta let her stay. This is a big change for her. She’s gotta have time to adjust to having a boyfriend who is known all over the world. Just, skype her every night like I do with Perrie. It feels like shes with me, no different.” He smiled and patted me on the back as he went to the fruit section. I went to pick out a breakfast for me and Scar, she loved eggs. That’s one of the things she could eat nonstop. 

Zayn and I got back to the room and you can tell there was something wrong. I walked in to the room seeing Scarlet on the bed with this weird expression on her face. She looked up to me in the door way and whispered softly so I could barley hear. What I heard was “My mom is dead.” I ran over to her side and embraced her. Why does something bad always happen to her. She is too perfect to have these problems.She’s only 16.
