When I see Richard on Monday morning I all but bound over to him, leaping onto him, he almost loses his balance. I had felt so guilty over the kiss I had shared with Robin that I felt like I needed to make it up to him, even though it was impossible for him to know about my infidelity.

I know that the entirety of the school will now be riddled with gossip about how we are back together.

"You guys make me wanna puke" comes the voice of Jason, I smell him before I see him, the heavy cloud of smoke he breathes out like a dragon. "I am glad that you guys are together though, now I don't have to split my time so much" he flashes me a smile. "Where's your pretty boy detective that shadows you?" he asks as they all walk through the doors.

"Well... I may have pretended to be sick. So he is babysitting an empty house right now" Jason laughs and gives a nod of approval whereas Richard pulls on my hand. "Barbara" he says, warning lacing his tone. I say nothing but kiss him on the lips before making our way to one of the few classes we share together. Jason leaves us at the door.

We sit at the back, corner of the classroom and start to get ready. I think I might fall asleep before the day has even begun, I rest my head on my hands as Richard plays with my hair.

"You okay Barb?" his hand moves to my back, rubbing sympathetically.

"Just tired, I haven't slept good in a while" When I say in a while I really mean in years, not since before my mother was murdered.

"What have you eaten?" Nothing

"I wasn't hungry this morning" I mumble.

"Barb, you need to eat more" he starts to pull on my hair, urging me to look at him.

"I shall eat later. I'll let you buy me the biggest lunch ever" I turn to see him chuckle and gaze down at me. The moment was ruined when the teacher came in to teach Chemistry.

Thirty minutes in of me dozing at the back of the class as Richard is the perfect student, he takes notes, answers and asks questions when needed. He does all of this without removing his hand from my back, it is as if he feared that if he stopped touching me I would disappear or run away. This hurts me more than he will ever know.

With my cheek pressed against the desk, I feel a slight tremor in the ground, as if people were running down the hall. I lift my head from the table, other students seemed to have noticed. Richards' eyes are glued to the door. There are many loud bangs, gunshots.

Mr Daniels rushes to the door, opens it and sticks his head out, looking both ways before shutting and locking the door. "Everyone to the back of the class" Richard all but drags me backwards, placing me behind him. He does not look scared but defiant. I I look around the class, girls were beginning to cry and guys looked nervous.

I really do not feel anything.I do not feel scared at all but maybe slightly intrigued by this disturbance and eager to help. We all stay like this for what seems like the longest time before the noise in the distance grows louder, more people run down the hallway.

Eventually, someone, a man appears at the door, he tries to open it. I have never seen the man before in my life, he is burly and tall, he has to duck to look through the window. The classroom is deadly quiet but as he raises what appears to be a shotgun to the window, there is a collective gasp and many screams from everyone but Richard and me.

The sound of the shell connecting with the glass was ear piercing when there is no more glass he reaches forward and unlocks the door. He steps into the room, scans over us all. He stops to look between me and Jenna Daily. He walks even closer, towards Jenna and grabs her by the arm. I go to step forward but Richard grabs my wrist.
