The first and only time he kissed me was in his truck.

We were having a deep conversation about our pasts and the struggles we went through. The only difference was he could barely recall his memories whereas mine were fresh. So fresh that I could almost reach out and touch them.

I was lost, beginning to spiral downwards into the darkness of my thoughts as the temptation threatened to consume me. Then suddenly, his hand was on my cheek, forcing me to look at him instead of staring out the windshield at nothing. His lips were touching my own and my eyes were open, wide open. Shock, surprise, confusion consumed me as he kissed my non-responsive lips. The war inside my head raged on as I struggled to pull my thoughts from the past and into the present. His lips were so warm, inviting.

Suddenly, I was kissing him back. My eyes were fluttering shut as I leaned into his comforting embrace.

He leaned back and I opened my eyes again, wanting for him to keep kissing me. Waiting for my mind to catch up with what had just occurred.

"Don't think like that, okay?" He had told me, still cupping my cheek.

My lips parted as I was sucked into his green stare, his eyes so captivating and distracting. I couldn't wrap my mind around the meaning behind his words.

"You're so much better than that. You don't deserve the pain you put yourself through. Please don't go back to it."

His warm hand was in mine, thumb tracing circles on the back of my hand.

I found myself whispering an "okay", my head swarming with the idea of kissing him again and returning to my past where he wasn't there to save me.

Then we were talking. He asked me to be his girlfriend. I said yes. We were laughing, but he could tell I was still distracted. I wanted him to kiss me again.

But the moment was gone, and so was he.

He was gone as quickly as he came.
