Today is the day.
The match that can make or break me.
I smiled to myself. It wasn't really, I just said that about every match so I could actually try hard. Although there was a bit of money on the line for this one.
Staring out my window, I just laid in bed. My alarm hadn't gone off yet and I really wanted to stay in bed as long as possible. As soon as that thought ran through my head, music started blaring from the phone beside me.
"Bling, bling." Mouthing the words to myself and standing, I stretched out all the morning kinks.
"Ugh, this song is iconic." I laughed to myself, even though it was actually quite sad. Laughing at your own jokes? Might as well be Jin.
Even though he made me appreciate dad jokes more.
I rolled my shoulders and shook my head. Throwing a couple of quick punches, I started to hype myself up. "Another match another day (Y/N)." I swiped a sports bra and leggings from inside my dresser. "Let's get to it."
2 hours later and I was at the gym stretching and warming up.
"Aye (Y/N)! Your match is next door isn't it?" Rex's voice rang throughout the place, causing me to pause.
"Yea, but I'm kinda nervous. There's money on the line with this one, what if I screw up?" I dropped down on one of the benches.
"You're not going to win every fight (Y/N). Even I've lost fights before. Not trying to say I'm the best or anything, but you've seen me." He rose an eyebrow and smirked.
"Rex, you never fail to amaze me with how humble you are." Rolling my eyes, I stood up. "Spar with me will ya?"
He nodded his head, "Yea let me wrap up and get my gloves on." He walked over to his bag and went into the guys locker room, leaving me to my own devices.
I was just about to get up when a piercing headache seared through my head. I grabbed the right side of my face and put my head down. My eye was twitching like crazy and it was almost as if my face was having a spasm.
But as quickly as it started, it stopped.
Drawing my hand slowly away from my face, I looked at it in confusion. What the hell was that?
"(Y/n), you ready? You should've been shadowboxing while you waited. Starting off lazy aren't we?"
Rex jogged over and threw some quick jabs into the air. I debated on whether to tell him but eventually decided to just focus on the fight. Weird headaches can wait.
I turned towards him and smiled. "Please, I can handle you easy." I stood up to grab my gloves, but something about Rex's reaction stopped me.
He leaned close to me and I rose an eyebrow. "What? Why are you staring at me like that?"
His finger grazed my face and I hissed in pain. "What is happening to your face? Are you okay? It's getting worse. It's like peeling all around the outside of your eye."
My hand immediately flew to my face. I turned away from his touch and grabbed my gloves. Are you trying to tell me that it got worst? This morning when I woke up it wasn't that big. Did that headache have something to do with it? As soon as the thought came into my mind, another searing headache made its way through my head. This time worst than the last.
I grunted in pain and twisted my face into a grimace, ignoring the headache completely. "It's fine, let's fight."
A sigh of relief left my mouth as it stopped and I put on my gloves. I faced him and got into my fighting stance.
