This island has always been an important to me. When I was little, I dreamt of being a hero and stopping bad guys here. Bullies were the villians and I considered them my worst enemy.
After I met my closest friends, we went to bullies and told them stop and sometimes threatened them. Sometimes, if they wanted a fight, I'd fight them. It felt like my duty. I could easily beat anyone up, even those who were twice my size. Self-defense classes were useful after all.
I had a reputation. I was an upholding figure for victims of bullying and it made me happy for being a hero to them. I couldn't have been any happier when they promised never to tell anyone I fought, even though it was reluctant. People looked up, or rather down, to me. They didn't want me in trouble.
It's been a while, but I still love the adrenaline rush of being someone's superhero. No one bullies or picks on anyone when I'm around. I'm actually on the school committee. They allow me to patrol the hall, giving me a pass to have an hour and a half lunch.
Erue High School of Charleston was considered the best school on the island. We excel in education, sports, and the arts. It was one of the first school built as well, having a good fifteen or so years of history. EHS is home to my friends and I.
"Bye Alex!" My lovely mother waved goodbye to me as I left. She never lets me leave home until she does so.
"Bye Mom!"
This was our third day of highschool. Schoolwork never gave any of us trouble since Felix is surprisingly smart and March is also adept at math. Nedd and Nigel were respectively skilled with amazing literature skills. We all helped each other out.
I hopped off the front step and walked down the street to another house. Since it's only a three minute march, and I never have to wait long for my companion. I stood at the gateway of a large white house where my comrade lived. It was tall and cozy on the inside, and I could easily say I know where everything is.
"Hello, Felix," I waved to my redheaded friend who shuffled while tying his shoes. "Have you finished your homework for once?" He waved, then left his doorstep to walk in step with me.
"Hah, that's funny Alex. Real funny. But of course not! I'm always busy, you know," Felix Divites is one of my very few and trusted best friends. He's very immature and kind, and willing to help anyone out or make them laugh.
"Doing what, videogaming?" I sighed when he gave me a sheepish grin in defeat.
"Yeah...maybe. Look!" The ginger pointed to another comrade of ours. "There's March, over there!" Felix waved to him furiously. We strode toward the tan male.
"Hey, what's up Marchie?" He joined my side after slowing down to walk with us. I was stuck in the middle between my two towering friends, making me look shorter. Frustrating as it was, there was nothing I could do about it.
March-Aaron Peccatum is too long of a name, so usually Felix and I call him March or Marchie. We do so because he says he hates it but is actually quite fond of pet names.
"Eh, Louisa cheated on me," He sighed. "I'm thinking the single life sounds better from my view, instead of girls dumping you left and right. It hits harder for me. I hate being stolen from."
"Dude...I think you have to worst luck ever," Felix likes to joke about how March can never have a steady girlfriend, but really, it wasn't his fault. The girls he dated were only there for the fact that they could have to title of March's girlfriend or ex.
"Shut up Felix. I see you haven't got a girl yet, you moron."
"You two, cut it out." They snickered and turned towards me. I glared half-heartedly at the two, but then they smiled when they saw I wasn't actually angry. "You both are so irritating!"
