After our first class it was time for our lunch period.
We walked down the hall and heard some snippets of conversation as we walked by.
-omg, did you see Quinn Ironshift's outfit today? It must have cost a fortune!
-and her purse? That's the new Dolace&Gabbina Pink Diamond. It's not even out in stores yet!
-Heaven Macglocklyn is super gorgeous!! Have you seen her new dye job? I wonder if she could tell me where she got it done...
-puh lease Ashleigh. You couldn't even get close to her. She's WAY out of our league.
A guy in a light blue Adidas t-shirt and dark purple shorts came up to us with a huge smile on his face.
He was probably around 6 feet and he had one green eye and one blue. And light brown hair. He was cute, but not our style.
"Hey, uh, Heaven and Quinn. I'm, uh, Adrian."
I smirked and did a once-over of him. Hmmm, not bad but I wasn't interested.
'Lead him on, or shove him away?' Heaven mindlinked me.
'Not interested babe, you?' I mindlinked back.
'Not interested.'
"So, Adrian." I said out loud. "What would you like?"
"I was, um..." He rubbed the back of his neck and shuffled his foot on the shiny black linoleum floor.
"I was wondering if you ladies were doing anything on Saturday. Party at my place. It's gonna be wicked." He said with a slight smirk.
'PARTAY!!!!' Heav shrieked through our mindlink.
'Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please ,Please, Please!!'
'Fine'
'YAY!!!'
"What time?" I asked Adrian.
What can I say? I love a good party. It's great way to let off some steam and we can just have a good time.
Adrian grinned. "9pm, 9945 Crystalbrook Drive."
"We'll be there."
Adrian walked back to his buddies. "They're coming!" He shouted. Cheering erupted from his group of jocks.
Heaven leaned over from where we were walking and gave me a little hug.
"Thanks babe." She said with a huge grin.
"Me? Pass up a party? Not a chance Heav."
"That's what I love about you."
"Aww, Heaven."
We walked father down the hallway and parted ways with a quick hug. Heaven had AP Calc and I had Criminal Law. I wanted to become a lawyer in a few years and Heaven wanted to be a Child Physiotherapist.
I sauntered into my new class and smiled. This was going to be easy. I passed the pre-requisite class for Law last year with a 97% and I barely studied once. Yes, I am actually really smart but I never would tell anyone. The would ruin my reputation of badass-ness.
"Ms. Ironshift. You're late." Mrs. Helphry. She's taught the grade eleven Law course for the past 4 years and she knows she does the best job of all the teacher who have taught the Law and pre-requisite courses. I had her last year.
Unfortunately for me, she was the only teacher who wasn't fooled by my charm. And that usually earned me a detention slip and a scolding. That didn't mean I happily put up with the shit she was always was trying to dish out to me. I mean, she taught Law well, but she fekin' sucked when it meant standing up to the were's on the more rebellious side. Especially if they were red eyes like me.
"Ah man, I am late, aren't I?" I walked to the back of the glossy metalled, ebony classroom and plopped down in the last desk. It was new, shimmering dark silver and pure, heavy, expensive metal.
I shoved my textbook and black and white skull binder in the big desk and leaned back in my seat.
"There are consequences for your tardiness, Ms. Ironshift. I though you learnt this last year."
She stood up and leaned against her desk, nearly identical to ours but much larger. She was in her early thirties. With her pixie-cut light blond hair and light silver eyes, she was a beautiful woman. Reaching about 5"4, she was quite a bit shorter than myself, not that height intimidated me.
I leaned as far back as my chair would allow and bent over and picked up my AE water bottle. I quietly sipped my lemon water for a moment.
"I realize there will consequences, Mrs. Helphry. My rudeness for interrupting your class is quite intolerable. I assure you it will not happen again."
She looked take aback. Yes, I had walked in late pretty much every day last year, not particularly giving a flying fek how she felt about me being late. But now I was apologizing? Whaaat?
She glanced up at me from her desk and quirked an eyebrow.
"Honestly, I am." I pressed my black manicured hand over my heart and smiled, throwing enough (gag) sincerity at her to make me feel like puking.
"Well then, Ms. Quinn, if you feel that deeply about the wrongness of your actions then this will be the one time I will provide lenience." She responded with a wide smile.
I nodded my head vigorously.
"Good." She moved up the front of the room and began talking about 'how justice and equality are factor that can "convert" a normal citizen into a criminal.'
I rested my head in my hands and began staring out the window. She didn't understand how I worked. Not many did. If someone had the slightest thought that I was 'turning over a new leaf,' I made sure to make their option the latter.
The bell ring out sharp and clear, breaking me from my thoughts.
I stood up and in a moment my trademark smirk was playing on my face.
Ha. Time to see what Heeden has to offer me this year.
