❛ The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them– words shrink things that seemed limitless when they were in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie too close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while you were saying it. That's the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a teller but for want of an understanding ear. ❜

– STEPHEN KING, THE BODY

!! DISCLAIMER !!

+ I do not– in any way, shape or form– own any of the material from Stephen King's novella, or the 1986 film adaptation, 'Stand By Me.' All rights go to the legendary man himself and all of those who worked on the two adaptations. But I do own the Hastings's, the Davenport's, their dialogue, their actions and their personal plots in this story.

warning

+ This fanfic is rated mature for a reason! There will be strong language, mentions of abuse, sexual references and violence. If any of these make you uncomfortable, then I highly suggest that you do not read this story.

+ This fanfic will also be based off of the 1986 film, however I will be mixing some stuff from the novella in because I honestly love the story so much. Things like the year the story takes place in, the ages of the characters and the lives of the characters can differ from the book and the film, cause like I said– I love both the adaptation and the book, so I will be mixing the two. I'm trying not to make this an exact copy of the film, but there will obviously be similarities since it is heavily based off of the film. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this shitty disclaimer, because let's be real– I know these things are easy to hate lol. I hope you enjoy!
