June 21th, 2013 - 2 am

We arrive in San Francisco nearly asleep. I’m still wearing my short shorts and tank top from Los Angeles. Once we get out of the airport and wait for our ride outside, I shiver. I remember Cole telling me earlier that San Francisco is always foggy and cold. I guess I should have prepared.

Dana stands next to me. “Are you cold?” he asks, concerned.

I glance up at him. “What? No!” He looks dubious. “Well, I mean it is chilly… but I’m fine,” I continue.

“You can borrow my jacket,” he offers. “It’s not very warm, but I can get it out for you.”

I shake my head vigorously. “No.”

He still looks worried. “Okay.”

I nod, satisfied. Then I kind of regret my decision. Anna would have accepted right away. Suddenly, I feel something warm placed on my bare shoulders. I look around to see Cole staring at me disapprovingly.

I try to shrug the jacket off. “Hey! What was that for?” I demand.

“Yeah, dude, I just offered her my jacket and she refused,” Dana adds in annoyance.

Cole ruffles my hair. “My mom will kill me if I let her catch something.”

I frown, but pull Cole’s fleece hoodie tighter around me. Mom will lecture me forever if I don’t take care of myself.

“There’s our ride,” Cole announces to Dana and me. The others are already piling into the black van with tinted windows. I follow the boys and lug my luggages to the trunk. Cole and Dana easily put their in a neat stack, but before I even lift mine off the ground, the driver picks it up for me. I tell him, “Thanks,” but I really wish he hadn’t. I need to prove that I can take care of myself.

In the van, Dalton, Gabe, and Will have already claimed the three back seats. Cole sits in front of them, and Dana sits on the other side of the aisle. I make a move to sit next to Dana, but Cole grabs my arm and pulls me into the seat next to him.

I glare at him. He frowns. “You’re with me.”

I give in and buckle my seatbelt in place. Cole starts conversing with the rest of his bandmates. Feeling left out and drowsy, I pull my knees to my chest and close my eyes. I wake up after what seems like five minutes. Cole uses the palm of his hand to push my head off his shoulder. My toes are on the floor. I don’t remember falling asleep like this.

“We’re here.” He unbuckles my seatbelt for me and tries to push me off the seat. “Go. Get up.”

I yawn in exhaustion. All I want to do is sleep. I clumsily pick myself off and stumble off the van. We’re in front of a luxurious hotel. Finally, an actual bed.

June 21th, 2013 - 6 am

Needless to say, I only got less than four hours of sleep. Cole wakes me up the same way he did before, by jumping on my bed and pulling the curtains so wide open I couldn’t have avoided the sun even if I hid my head under my numerous pillows, which just so happened to be lying on the floor at the foot of my bed.

This time, I remember to wake up when I have to so I don’t have to rush through breakfast. When I get to the dining room, though, they don’t look like they’re going to a concert. When Cole sees me and notices my confused expression. He laughs. “What’s SF without tourism?” he yells.

I run over, embarrassed. “I’m sure San Francisco has lots of uses and perks besides tourism, such as business, entertainment, a port-”

Cole grabs my bag and places it on the empty seat next to him. “Get food. We’re going sightseeing.”

I sigh and do as I’m told. When I get back, the boys are chattering about the things they’re excited to see. I want to see the Golden Gate Bridge.

After breakfast, we pile into the van. I make sure I sit next to Dana, my friend, rather than Cole, my brother. Dana grins. “Have you been to San Francisco before?”

I shake my head. “I told you. This is my first time in California.”

“At least you’re here,” he says. “You’re going to love Fisherman’s Wharf.”

“What?”

“It’s like a dock or boardwalk or something. It right at the ocean and there are tons of shops and sightseeing things. Plus, there are sea lions.”

My eyes widen. “Sea lions?”

“Yeah! There’s a ton of ‘em and they’re freakishly loud.”

“Dang. Compared to Cali, Texas is absolutely boring,” I complain.

He laughs. “Hey, we’re on a tour, aren’t we? Anyway,” he frowns, “We only get one day for this. We won’t be able to spend so much time at each place.”

“Make the most of it, then,” I reason. And that’s what we did. We didn’t go to every place we wanted to, but at least we walked the Golden Gate and I snapped pictures of adorable sea lions.

We call it a day at ten, when it is too dark to do anything anyway.

We all have rooms on the same floor, which is lucky. As Dana is about to enter his room with Gabe, I call him over. “You wanna watch Teen Wolf?” I ask. “The TV is Bluetooth; I checked. Unless you’re busy, I mean.”

He beams. “I’m not busy.” He runs over to me. “Your room?”

I nod. “Yeah, Cole won’t mind.” I glance at my brother, who is already walking into our room. “Or if he does, he can’t do anything about it. I’ve already put up with him all day.”

“Episode one?” Dana asks as we enter the room.

“Yep. You gotta start from the beginning.”

“The hell are you doing in here?” Cole asks when he sees Dana. He’s not angry, just surprised.

Dana plops onto the nearest bed, which happens to be Cole’s. “I’m watching Teen Wolf with your sister.” Cole’s eyes narrow. Dana notices and adds, “Not like a date. We’re just friends.”

“I told him Teen Wolf is awesome and he should watch it,” I explain and sit at the end of my bed. “You should, too.”

Cole looks like he wants to complain. He looks out the door, then back to us. I think he can’t decide whether to leave or stay here and make sure we don’t get up to something. I want to tell Cole that it’s not like anything’s actually going to happen between Dana and me. I doubt Dana even likes me like that.

“Fine,” Cole decides. “I’ll watch it.”

I swear Dana looks a bit disappointed, but maybe it’s just wishful thinking. He gets up and moves over to sit next to me. Cole watches him and takes his place on his bed. I start the episode and the two boys are immediately engrossed. It takes everything I have not to squeal at certain parts or give away spoilers. When the episode is finished, Dana demands another one.  I play the next episode and start to feel drowsy. I already know what’s going to happen, so I watch Dana and Cole’s reactions. They laugh at the funny parts, occasionally ask me questions, but for the most part, keep their eyes glued on the screen. I smile and lean on Dana. His eyes widen and looks at me in surprise. I’m too tired to care. He puts his arm around me and I feel my heart flutter. I didn’t know that could actually happen. I’m glad to see that Cole doesn’t notice this interaction. On the TV, as Scott McCall makes the winning shot, I finally doze off.

What I don’t notice is that, as Allison Argent finally kisses Scott, Dana looks down at my sleeping face and plants a kiss on the top of my head.
