if you are wondering about the blue thing connected to it, it's a leash that goes to my chicken harness! I'm using it to keep RACCOONS out.. The latch on the that goes inside the coop opens easily, so it wouldn't take much effort for a raccoon to have a fluffy midnight snack. So I clipped the lead onto the latch so it won't open unless you unclog the leash!! :D we also buried bricks so they can't dig under the coop!
