"Merida, everything is going to be fine. You need to calm down." The Professor said this as he wheeled himself towards where me and Aric were standing. To tell you the truth I was just about ready to punch the handicapped Professor in the face. He has this nac for saying positive things, but well.... I wasn't in a very positive mood.
Before the Professor or Aric could say another word, there was a new hole in the wall. I wasn't willing to listen to reason at that moment, a matter a fact I wasn't willing to listen to anything.
I started to walk away, but then Aric grabbed my arm, and the Professor said "Revenge isn't the answer Merida, I promise you that path will only lead to more pain."
"Get out of my head, you won't like what you see if you dig any deeper." Aric let go of my arm and spoke next, what he said surprised me immensely.
"Take my hand. Look at my past and my experiences and maybe you'll learn from my mistakes." I did as he said, but at first I didn't understand why he wanted me to see the same memories I had already seen, but then I got it, I looked at his memories from a different perspective. He had been angry, hurt, he felt betrayed just like I felt now. His anger led him to do things that seemed unthinkable, things that he now regretted.
Letting go of his hand I stepped back, and said "Why? Why does he hate me?" Tears started trickling down my face again.
The Professor and Aric were looking at me with compassion and concern, and then Aric said "Normal people fear people like us, whether they have cause to or not. It's in their nature."
"But... he was my brother." I said back with a trembling voice.
"People who are close to you will hurt you. Trust me I speak from experience, but their opinion of you shouldn't control your life." I knew he was right. In my heart I really knew that, but the hatred still burned in my chest.
I looked down and said "I'm going to go outside, I need some fresh air." They didn't stop me but looked worried as I limped away.
