46. Hide Out

We made it to the party. It's was full of Geo's family. People who would be judging me and thinking I wasn't good enough for him. People who doubted my love for him. People who didn't know me. A couple of Geo's friends were there which made me feel a little better and his siblings but I was still a nervous fucking reck.

"Hey Geo," a girl said as she walked up to us.

"Hey Gracie," Geo responded.

"Oh Court, this is Gracie, my friend. Gracie that is Courtney, my girlfriend."

"Hi, nice to finally meet you. I've heard so much and it's nice to finally match the face with the actions. You are really pretty," she smiled and held her hand out.

I shook it and smiled, "Thanks. You too. You have really beautiful eyes."

"Thank you. Pretty and nice. That's hard to find these days," she smiled and I laughed. "Well I'll be over there," she said. She gave Geo a small hug and walked away.

"She either had or has a crush on you," I told Geo.

"What? Gracie? Pfft. No," he said.

"Definitely has a thing for you," I said.

"Okay yes, she did. A long time ago. You have nothing to be worried about."

"I better not," I said flipping my hair and making my way to Michael.

"Hey," I said.

"Oh, hola Courtney. How's it going?"

"Great. Fine. I met Gracie so that was fun," I said with a hint of sarcasm.

"You know?"

"Yeah," I said.

He nodded. He didn't say much after that but then he looked at me, "Are you using me to stall from talking to everyone else?"

"Stalling? I'm not stalling if I was stalling I wouldn't be standing next to you. I would be standing next to..uh Geo. He knows how nervous I am. He wouldn't push me," I said.

"So that's it? Or is it the fact that Geo's standing by and talking to all of his cousins?"

"Oh cousins? I didn't even notice," I lied.

"You're on your own Courtney," he said walking away but I ran and caught up with him.

"Wait um.. don't you want to help me out. You have no idea how bad I want them to like me."

"I'm going over there with the older people, I'm pretty sure you want to be with the cousins."

I huffed as he left me there by myself. But then realized oh shit I'm by myself. I had to go before someone talked to me. Welp that was foiled.

"Court. Come with me. I want to introduce you to someone," mama said.

Oh no.

"These are Juwany's grandparents," she said. I smiled at them and waved and they did the same.

"Actually mom, I have to used the bathroom. Do you know where it is?"

"Oh yes, right down that hall to the left."

I nodded and excused myself.

As I was "walking to the bathroom" I found Michael in a corner, on his phone.

"It's funny that you are with the older people, when I was just talking to them and you were nowhere to be found," I said.

"I'm sure there is older people on Instagram," he said scrolling through his phone.
