Colton and the men start talking and I take notes of what they are saying.
"If we build here." I hear Colton telling the men and pointing at a map. " then our profits will increase." They keep on arguing where to put the new building and I'm about to blow my brains out. I sigh heavily and lean back. Colton stops talking and glances at me. " Mrs. Grey are we boring you?" Colton says coldly to me. All the men at the table chuckle and laugh at me expecting me not to say any thing else. " actually you are. There is a simple solution." I say. The men stop laughing.
"What would a girl, let alone a secretary know about this." A man towards the end of the table says. My mouth drops open. Oh no he did not just say that. I look towards Colton but he remains quite. I roll my eyes and the guys begin re discussing everything over again. I drop my pen and notebook. Standing up I stretch my arms and yawn. Then I point my finger at the map.
"Place the building here. I've been there and it's heavily populated with little chains up and down these." I point my finger at five streets. "5 streets some of them might come to your law firm. It's also a popular place to go so people will see your law firm when they visit the area for other things." I stand straight up and look at the shocked look on everyone's faces.
"Of course what would I know, I'm only a secretary; but not anymore I quit." With that I turn and leave.Instead of driving home I go to my dads house. I look at the time and he should still be at work. Parking about a block away I walk up to the house pulling out my spare key I unlock the door. I had left some clothes and a couple other things here. Hoping my dad didn't already throw them away I go up to my old bedroom. Pulling out a box from the closet I open it and begin to relax. All the things are there. I rush back downstairs with the box and run to my car. Once I'm safely inside I go through the box unfolding a scarf and inhaling the scent of my moms old perfume. I set the scarf gently aside and pull out my moms old oversized sweater. It was her favorite to wear during winter. I dig around some of her other things before pulling out a small photograph. I look at my 3 year old self engulfed in my moms arms. The picture was taken at the beach during a windy day. My moms smile shined at me and her floppy hat moves almost off her head due to the wind. A tear slips down my face and then my eyes turn into the Biafra falls.
"Oh mom... what should I do." I whisper to myself. Stuffing everything back in the box I start the car and drive to Colton's house. When I arrive to the house I swing the door open and rummage through the freezer. Pulling out a vodka bottle I down half the bottle and let it burn down my throat and stomach. Taking my little treasure to the couch I down another sip. Some time later I hear the door open and guess it's Colton. I take another swing from the bottle.
"We are building the building where you suggested." He yells from the kitchen. I'm quite and soon see Colton standing in front of me.
"So you assholes finally agreed on something." I try not to slur my words but fail miserably.
"Jesus grey." Colton huffs and takes the now almost empty bottle from my hands. "What's you fucking problem." Colton says.
" my fuckin problem? How could you treat me like that infront of your co workers."
"I'm not getting in a fight with you when your drunk." Colton sighs.
I don't know why but I burst into tears. "I want out. I thought I could do this but I can't. I don't care if my father beat me for it or I become homeless I can't do this anymore."
Colton's face goes slack then becomes red with fury. Before he can say anything a knock comes from the door Tris's voice comes from behind the door. "Hey can I come in the doors unlocked." Colton protests but I yell " yea come to hell!" I hear tris laughing but when she walks in she becomes quite and rushes over to my side. "You've been drinking." She states. I just nod.
"Thought you wouldn't come." I whisper. She just hugs me "better late than never. Right?" She says sadly. I look past her and see Colton staring at us. "Tris I just want to go. I want to leave forever. My dad, this marriage, start a new life." I don't know if this was the alcohol talking or me but tris looks at me and hugs me. She pulls me into a hug and whispers in my ear "I'll talk to him."Tris point of view
I stand up and walk away from grey. Colton looks at me and I nod him over to the kitchen.
"What the fucks wrong with her." Colton whispers.
"Her mom past away years ago and this is the day it happened. She's usually a tough person but today's the day where any slight thing will get her going." I sigh fighting back a tear. "She probably hasn't told you but her mom committed suicide. Slit her wrists in a bathtub." Colton's face falls when I give him the bad news. I eye him up and down. " look you seem like a nice guy but if you keep being a ass to my friend expect me to beat you up." He chuckles "you beat me up" He says.
"Hey I do kick boxing don't doubt these muscles. I lift my arm up and flex. "Anyway she doesn't want to see you. For good reason, don't think I didn't see the anger and tension between you two when I walked in. I'm taking her with me so she doesn't do something drastic in He state." Colton just nods and I walk away. I lift grey up and walk her to my car.I posted a day late so I made this chapter longer. Hope you all enjoyed. Keep reading lovelies
