OMG guys I have a ranking!!!!!! I’m ranked #970 in Werewolf! That is amazing! Thank you guys so much! This is my first story, and I didn’t really expect to get a ranking for a while, so this is really cool and I dedicate this chapter to all you awesome people!

Also, I feel HORRIBLE! I completely left you guys hanging for a week! I do have a reason, which is that I went on a church retreat all last weekend in Ohio which is a couple hours away from my home (Say yeah if you're from Ohio!) AND it’s the first week of summer (!!!!!!!!!!), but you guys are probably thinking why didn’t she update during the week? Well, I was busy, and admittedly lazy (sleeping ‘til one in the afternoon, anyone?), and I decided that I would give you guys a treat of three updates this weekend (and Monday), the two expected chapters and another for my lateness, maybe more if I feel super creative :) Anyways, lo siento mis patitos!

Chapter 9

Aaron’s POV

Why did she flinch? I’ve noticed that she does that a lot during class. Also, I made her cry. I’m such a douche. I can’t believe myself. What kind of mate challenges their other half? Obviously a stupid one. I’m gonna have to-

Shut up you moron! You’re babbling about random crap while our mate is hurting, because of you I might add, and possibly getting comforted by another male! Go after her! Duh. I’m so stupid sometimes.

I run out of the classroom and follow the smell of her perfume, which leads to the door of Senorita Blanco’s room. She’s a human teacher, so if I were to waltz in there without a pass, I would definitely get a detention considering she hates me.

Fate is definitely on my side, because the principal, who is a werewolf, is walking down the hall. “Mr. Green!” I shout desperately. “I need a pass to take Lara Smith to the office NOW!” after a minute, I have the pass in my hand and I walk straight into the room, cutting off Senorita Blanco.

“¿Qué necesita, Señor Blackwell?” she asks in annoyance. I wave my office note in the air and she huffs out an irritated breath before snatching it out of my hand, scanning it, and saying, “Lara, va a la oficina con Aaron.”

“¿Qué?” My poor mate looks frightened, but she should know not to disrespect me. Mate or not, I am the alpha and deserve respect. The teacher motions impatiently towards the door, and Lara hesitantly gathers her things and walks over to me, acting like she’s walking to her execution or something. Once she’s close enough, I reach out to grab her arm, but she flinches away again. I frown, but don’t comment and walk briskly out the door and towards the office.

As we near the office, I grab her thin wrist and yank her into the room next to the office that is actually mine but only the principal and one of the secretaries know that. Everyone else thinks that it’s a supply closet that’s always locked, or an empty classroom that needs repairs. I don’t want people hooking up in my private room!

Lara yanks her hand out of my grasp and glares at me, while inching towards the door. I step in front of it quickly and she backs away from me and closer to the center of the room.

“What do you want?” she asks.

“Well, I want to get to know my mate, of course!” I say with over-exaggerated enthusiasm. She scoffs, so in an earnest voice, I say, “No, really. I want to know you. I want to know what your favorite food is, what your favorite color is, what makes you smile, what makes you mad, what happened that makes you afraid of people, why you cover your scent with perfume, why you’re a rogue, where your family is, and most important, why you don’t want me as a mate.”

She had been slightly nodding her head until I got to the part about her being afraid, and then she got that look like a deer caught in headlights and she shook her head rapidly. She said, “No, you really don’t want to know any of that except maybe my favorite color.”

“Actually, I do. Let’s start with an easier one. Why do you cover your scent with perfume?”

“Why do you care so much?” she asks.

“Well, rogues are usually a threat to my pack, especially if they hide their scent. It makes us suspicious because the ones who do hide their scents are usually doing that so they can infiltrate and attack us from within.”

“Um, ok. Why would people attack you? How bad of a person are you?”

“It’s not my fault, believe it or not. Rogues are usually pretty crazy or they’re bad people who got kicked out of their pack. Both types of rogues usually attack without reason, unless they want their own pack or land, but sometimes other packs will target us because they don’t agree with what we do, or they want the land for themselves, or sometimes someone’s mate is in our pack and they refuse to leave my pack, since I’m an amazing alpha if I do say so myself. Especially for an 18 year old. Also, everyone just has those few enemies that no one can even remember the reason why they became enemies. Those people will also attack occasionally.” I stop talking at that point because Lara looks super confused. “Why the confused face?”

“What are packs and rogues and all those things you mentioned?” she questions.

At first I think she’s joking, but after peering into her bright green eyes, I can’t detect any joking or lies. I gesture to the couch in the corner and say, “We really need to talk.”

As I head over to the couch, I stop guarding the door, and she shoots out of my reach and through the door. As I get to the door, it is already shut and locked somehow. I realize that she stole the key right out of my pocket somehow. How did she learn to do that? Another mystery surrounding my mate.

Right now, however, the main mystery is how to get out of the locked room without a key. The room doesn’t have windows, and no way can I fit through the vent. . .

Use the mind link, dummy. Just ask the principal to come unlock the door and then make you another key. Oh. Obviously.

Usually, I would get a new lock, not just a new key if someone takes mine, but since it’s my mate with the key, I’m ok with that.

Mr. Green, can you come get me out of my room? Lara locked me in.

Do you want me to punish her, Alpha Aaron?

No! I growl viciously. She can do whatever she wants in this school without any repercussions. However, once I get out, I would like to see any and all files you have on her.

O-of course, sir. Right away, sir. Mr. Green manages to stutter out.

I love when people fear us!  My wolf says with a weird sense of pride.

That is sorta weird and I don’t think I can agree with you on that. I’d rather have people respect us.

Well, since you are part of me and I’m part of you, I guess that we both feel a little of both ways.

There goes my wolf, always being logical when I’m not. Without him, I’d probably be like Patrick from Spongebob, drowning in an underwater lagoon or something stupid like that.

That is true my young companion.

We’re the same age. I say flatly.

I know that but wolves mature faster and you mature slowly even for a human.

Nuh uh!

Yuh huh!

Nuh- I hear the lock click and stop bickering with my wolf.

“Thanks, Mr. Green.” I say with a nod.

“Not a problem, Aaron.” He says. He can only get away with calling me Aaron near humans. If they heard anyone, especially my own principal, call me alpha, there would be a bad situation I’d have to handle.

I walk out of the classroom and sniff the air, not catching any distinct scent of my mate.

Now, I have to go hunt down Lara, again.
