It was all over so quickly.
and it hadn't even truly started.
I had tried though,
and that's what counts, right?
I had tried to make you smile.
I had tried to make you laugh.
I had tried to break your shell.
I had tried to make you feel something,
anything,
for me.
I had tried so hard.
Look where it got us.
You.
Happy.
Unbroken.
The same you ever were.
Me.
Sad.
Shattered.
The same I ever was.
I'm not trying anymore.
