Prologue: Enemy's Weapon

A/N: Hello! My amazing readers, I will make this quick because I know some of you lovely people don't like the author's notes. I am so proud to introduce you to Selfish. This is a new book and I am so excited about it. I believe you all will like it very much but a little note his name is pronounced Aidan(eye-dan) without further or do, let's get into the prologue. 🤗

We approached the container storages discreetly, bypassing along the docks. The moonlight shimmered along the water bank. "You getting anything Gage?" Tie questioned impatiently. I concentrated directly inside the warehouse. But lose concentration due to their pestering each other repeatedly. "Tie, don't be impatient this is a risky situation, we need to be cautious. I roll my eyes at Aidan's words. "What's taking him so damn long?" He ignored Aidan's remark, annoyed. Another thing to be expected.

I focus on two little water bubbles and toss them at their faces."That outta shut you up, I can't focus due to your bickering." They both fall back gasping for air at the water pressure. "What the hell, Gage?" Tie hisses. Aidan groans annoyed and glares at me as he wipes the water from his face. Finally being able to focus into the warehouse, I find two males talking back and forth discussing something. I try reading their minds to find what it is but find blockages due to the outside building. "It's no good their minds are shielded due to the outer exterior of the building, "Aidan can you get something?" I question before Tie interrupts," great so you're telling me that I was hit with a suffocating water bubble for you to find nothing?" he nagged. I shot him a cold glare, "maybe a fireball will satisfy you?" I raise an eyebrow. He sends me an icy glare, smirking as I see ice shards forming around him. I flare my body some causing the icicles to melt before hitting me. Tie starts forming an ice ball but Aidan stops him before he has a chance. "Now you're both breaking my focus with your pestering, you should knock it off before you alert the enemy." We both call a truce smirking as Aidan goes back to focusing until a piercing scream erupts in sound waves throwing us all back against something. The piercing scream sends an agonizing splintering through our heads and we cover our ears. I transfer my thoughts to Tie best I can with the pain," you distract her." I send my plan into both their minds and they both nod in unison. Shards of ice fly towards the piercing lungs of the women but shatter at sound impact. "Now!" I give the signal. Aidan runs to land the blow when he's knocked to his feet as by something unseen. "Damn, it." I punch the ground and the earth shatters beneath the A rank speeder, as he trips. The E1 falls to the ground unbalanced as well, "Go!" Aidan stands up quickly and lands a blow to her face, the impact shattering the ground more beneath her. She lays unmoving, Tie sends ice shards in the A rank's direction and pins him down. "Nice going guys, now we have to do this the hard way," Aidan complains. "Your welcome," Tie smirks. I look into the A rank's mind, reading his thoughts. I heard them speaking to one another in his head.

"We have to find out who it is before they do, their gonna be very powerful, E3 ranked." A deep voice warned.

Who could be more powerful than me? I grew angry with the person they searched for. I got up and grabbed my enemy's neck and held it tightly. "Who are they!" I growled. My enemy gripped at my hand trying to speed off. Anger flared in me and my body shook with rage and a huge wave came from behind me and body-slammed my enemy back into the ground. "Gage, what is it?" Aidan asks. My body shakes in rage, I will find out who it is, if it is the last thing I do. I march into the warehouse and hide behind a metal shelf with Aidan and Tie. "What happened," Tie whispered as I ignored him. "Aidan," I nod. He nods in an understanding of my mind transfer. Aidan zooms into his sensory powers concentrating as Tie grows irritable. "What do you see?" Tie whispers. He breathes shallowly," I see a red aura full of malice and anger, he's ruthless."Aidan estimates. "Can you read his powers?" Gage asks. Aidan's eyes roll back into ocean blue once again."Heat and the other is hard to pinpoint, it's as if it's being fanned even hotter, he's D ranked." I listen carefully trying to analyze his power and think. "Fire and wind." Aidan clarifies. "These two being placed together makes it more difficult, the wind helps fire expand to reach wider range and longer lengths, we need a plan," I conclude. Tie and Aidan both stare and look at me. "What?" I snap. Aidan shakes his head as Tie snickers, "you never seem to amaze me how you can be so selfish yet get straight A's?" I roll my eyes at them both. "So what's the plan?" Aidan asks. I glance around trying to find anything for us and notice some syringes filled with a yellow liquid in crates. I nod in the direction, "what's in those syringes?" I question Aidan. His ocean blue eyes glow under his chestnut brown hair back into his trance-like state. Tie once again growing impatient, "Anything?" he raises a dirty blonde eyebrow above his blue eyes. "Some kind of mixture of toxins, I can't say what kinds but it's lethal." Great so an A rank, with an E1 which is already dangerous enough along with the D rank and some unknown toxins that could kill us. Though the A rank isn't really a problem these toxins are I figure. "Great so you're telling me we are gonna be crispy ashes either way with one slip up?" Tie states. "Gage any strategies?" Aidan questions. Even if I have all elements this will be difficult, I could use water while Tie uses ice. But it wouldn't do much considering this guy has enhanced fire, he'd melt ice and steam my water. Think Gage! Think! "Okay I have a plan, don't worry." I say. Aidan listens carefully while Tie raises an eyebrow, "so?" Tie impatiently asks. "Yeah, you're both on your own," I say. Aidan glares at me," thanks! you don't have a plan do you? Selfish bastard." While Tie says, "great plan, Glass why don't you just feed us to the sharks while you're at it?" He turns away in annoyance. "Yeah, I got nothing." They both shoot me a glare," well leave it to you to have straight A's but can't think of a plan, I got it, it's fine." Aidan motions us in and discusses the plan with us and we start making our move. Aidan peeks over cautiously and moves closer as I find a way to get behind them. A sneaky grin formed on my face, this is gonna be fun. Tie lets off an ice blast below the D ranks feet and he whirls around. Just as Aidan punches the ice beneath him, ice shards fly in his eyes as he screams in agony just as Aidan assumed.
